That´s because you live in Berlin. In the southern parts of germany and espacially in austria you will hear that from time to time.

What is the general consensus on wearing double monk strap shoes (both buckles buckled)? Beyond that, how about medallion cap toe double monks?

Nothing wrong witha nice double monk. Plenty of people around here have a pair in their closet.

I think double monks really lend themselves to suede and oxblood/medium brown leathers. I always buckle both buckles.

Edit: ...like the ones Caustic Man is wearing above.
