@soaped I generally don't like button downs but those textures rock

re shirts-  I like ecru for warm, and of course a pale pale blue for cooler fits-  grey or navy suits.

I can think of a language/dialect or two with the opposite effect-  Scots English, Quanzhou Hokkien, Jersey English, Klingon

Thanks! Pale blue is a favourite of mine too, unfortunately it is often difficult to get good pictures of it (even with the best camera and light it tends to come out as some sort of dirty white). In real life it's a beautiful shirt colour.

I got to know Hokkien when I lived in Singapore. Don't speak it but recognize it. They say its the best language in the world for curse words, Singlish is full of them. One favourite is "Lum Pah Pah Lan", which means that something backfired (literally it means "your balls hit your penis", which, if delivered correctly, is elegantly expressed in the rhythm of the phrase...).

I think you are a little unfair against the Scots though. Glaswegian is admittedly not the most life affirming dialect in the world, but the Morningside dialect is lovely.

The square is the Hober map square, which is cream with different shades of tan/brown and blue.  For the life of me, I cannot get a picture where it does not look somewhat yellow, which is not the case in real life.

My first thought was "now, that's a nice tie", then I realized... lol8[1].gif

But I'm not sure panama silk counts as CBD.

Details (Click to show)
Jacket by Suitssuply
Shirt by Osovski
Tie by Embassy of Elegance
Pocketsquare and lapel pin by Poszetka Handcrafted

Now that's a nice tie knot! Outfit would be very nice if it was a suit, but looks like an odd jacket with navy (?) trousers? Also, I would have worn a pocket square with a navy ground, this is too close in my eyes.

Yes it is an gray odd jacket with navy smart trousers. I find it refreshing to from time to time reverse colours of more traditional smart-casual combination of navy top and grey bottom. As for pocketsquare, I figure it plays well with both tie and shirt and given I didn't use it for quite some time it was an easy choice today :)

In your first pic the shoes are too light for the rest of the fit. The darkness of the suit and the turtleneck call for a more somber shade. The only thing that stands out in that pic is your shoes and your PS. That's a problem.

Your second fit pairs several bright colors with glaring red shoes. Those shoes should never be worn with a jacket and tie or, in most cases, at all. The shoes from the first fit would have done nicely in their place.

Your third fit features shoes that look like they were taken from the same animal as your tie. Simply too light and matchy. That fit could have used some grounding with a darker pair of shoes.

Your fourth fit utilizes shoes very nicely. Although I really don't like the tie, the rest is fine.

Re first pic: okay, got it, however i tend to disagree about the shoes being too light. The shoes are darker irl.

Re second pic: i´ll give you that - should have worn a more somber tone, these are too bright. However, i do like to wear them with a jacket, it´s just a question of overall settting, i guess.

Re third pic: the tie color is certainly brigher than the shoe´s, but not as much as it might have been. I do like to use two similar colors to kind of "frame" the whole outfit...

Re fourth pic: at least i´ve done sth right. I wear this tie occassionally and i like it.

Some more fits - yesterday and today...

Even in the other photos? Do you think it will always look as such or can I have it shaped as such to improve the look? I am weary of changing the jacket too much as it had a fair bit of work done in the first place and I have had conflicting opinions on the fit.
