@virgil I agree with your assessment

Here was my take on Pitti from the last 3 days... Pretty basics I think.

Day 1: Tagliatore + mtm + Rubinacci tie

Day 2: Sartorial Rossi mtm + Exquisite Trimmings Shantung tie

Day 3: Lavenham + Viola Milano grenadine tie

Cool tie, not sure about the square though, stands out a lot among the lighter more neutral colours

I have never felt that the jacket was too long it may well be the angle, perhaps I will see if I can get some robo-fit pics of it next week. I am really keen to improve, so thank you for the advice!

I think the suit may be too tight. You may also need a higher rise on your trousers next time around, they seem to hang too low. It is hard to make out everything in the pictures but, while I like the tie, in one photo the ties and suit appear to both have the same scale of dots. Anyone else see this?

The shirt collar is nice. Again, I am just learning and offering my non-expert opinion. Hopefully others will chime in to help.

The suit is a micro-houndstooth, I have enlarged the photo's here so perhaps that makes it easier to make out smile.gif I can move freely in the suit when its on and I don't feel that the jacket is too tight but I will take more photos next time and I'm sure you guys will be able to help me.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Thanks for the feedback!

^ Is this for the adventure or do you and your SO typically dress similarly?

I don't know if we dress that similarly, but yeah, we pretty much dress like this all the time.

I think this was one of my best photo shoots! Fango pack cashmere DB coat, white cashmere scarf and Florence at 3 am in the morning :D That is the only chance to get the streets empty ;)

As for the coat, I decided to get a DB in order to make the lapel a bit longer. I also lowered all buttons a bit for the same purpose. The white scarf was a bit extravagant for me at first but now I truly love it! I am only missing some vintage car to drive ;)

Hope you dont mind me asking EFV, but from the pictures I've seen of your wife she consistently has very nice fits. She manages to do something that is not easy to do in working with what is essentially menswear or menswear inspired looks (mostly British styling), but never looking like she just borrowed your clothes. Her fits always have a feminine cut that is very nice. Does she have her clothes made, does she buy womenswear or does she buy menswear and have them altered?

The reason I ask is that my wife discovered many years ago that womenswear is a scam where she would consistently pay more for poorer quality. But she still finds it tricky to find better quality womenswear. It has been an eyeopener to see that even on some occassions we have bought jackets from the same brand and hers would be of poorer quality than mine.

Of course I have a self interest in asking, because I occasionally "lose" clothes to my wife. It starts innocently with comments such as "that shirt is very nice, it would even look really nice on me with a few alterations" and then ends with my clothes moving into her closet. So if you have advice its welcome!

I’m glad the thread is back to being ‘safe for work’ (or as close as it ever gets to that …).

Yesterday (tie is new to SF).

Cheers,

Not sure why, but that suit looks like a beaten sack.

Stop being so cool. Also, your wife does menswear better than most men on this site.
