HOF: What Are You Wearing Right Now - Part IV (starting May 2014) - Page 2064

Happy New Year.  I've been on vacation in the DC area.  Most of my fits from vacation are over in MC casual. I wore this on NYE.  OCBD and black knit tie.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

I got home on yesterday to some new pickups in the mail.

New Stuff. (Click to show)

Uniqlo knit button down shirt.  $30 each.  I picked up four of these in different colors.  I like the fit, but wish the collar was beefier.

Banana Republic Suede Jacket.  $70.  So soft.

Tartan sport coat.  $40.  Supposedly Brooks Brothers, but the tag may have been sewn in to help it sell.

Was your choice to wear brown belt/shoes a function of limited options due to being on vacation?

Correct, Koala-T - the arrangement of buttons on the sleeves of all New & Lingwood suits is done like that - two and two, with a bit of separation in between. They're also made as working buttons off the rack - happily, their size 42S suit jackets fit me perfectly in the sleeve department - no need for alterations there.

Not checked in for a while. Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year.

This is a very nice ‘northern lights’ outfit; the patterned jacket and solid trousers really make a difference.

I’m curious to know what the shoes were—given the tie I’m imagining dark brown derbies/bluchers?

(And a nicely composed photograph to boot.)

Cheers,

It's a mystery. I thrifted it, but there is nothing identifying. No maker tags, no union label, no fabric label (maybe a generic Woolmark one, I forget). Decent quality, though it's a bit shouldery and low-notched, though unusually with side vents. Hard to tell if it's upper-middlebrow '80s OTR, or if it's from some little independent local tailor, which there were once a lot of in this area.

Here's today, in go-to-hell belt and brown/black puppytooth tweed trousers.

Vintage sportcoat, Allen Solly challis tie, J. Press hank, Polo lizard-and-silver cowboy belt, Cole Haan kicks, Zara shirt.

And I have that wool tie too, @Koala-T / @ericgereghty, but mine is in the other colorway.

I like both the outfits above, but those tie knots leave something to be desired.  In particular the dimple placement.  I kinda like the Zara shirt even though I don't want to.

Thanks! This is a single outfit, just a wide shot and a close-up. I'm not gonna defend the tie knot. I was in a hurry this morning, and didn't feel like fixing it.

I was referring to the spoilered fit with the yellow tie as the other one I like.  Both ties are great by the way.

Oh, duh. My reading comprehension matches my knot-tying.

Thanks. I love challis neats.
