2nd shot at dressing like Roycru.  Camel hair jacket, tartan pants, fair isle socks, AE shoes, regimental tie, BB OCBD.

What's wrong with looking formal?

Agree. And I don't even think it's overly formal. Just crisp and clean. Infinitely better than the Regis Philbin monochromatic look.

What are your thoughts? Admittedly, I like white far more than many here, but it would seem a 3 piece suit would be as good a time as any to go for the "formal" white, no?

I tend to agree with pck1 (a rarity 😀). White would be fine for a worsted navy suit, but this isn't exactly navy, the pattern isn't exactly reserved, and the fabric is more country than city. That and that tie just doesn't work with white, imo. I like it with the shirt dw chose, and probably would like it with a less saturated blue as well, ir maybe even a very pale pink, ir a less saturated small check blue. Might even be a food fir for a gray shirt. But that's just me.

Yesterday was an eventful day, and very much a mixed bag. I took my staff out for a holiday lunch, which was great fun, then I had to endure an awards ceremony at work, which ran longer than scheduled, and was tedious in parts, then my division at work had its holiday party, which was large and crowded, and from which I escaped early, in order to attend the book signing for Hugo Jacomet's new book, "The Parisian Gentleman", at the Armoury in Tribeca. Going from a large, loud party of IT professionals who dress up maybe once a year to a small party of exquisitely dressed gentlemen (and a few ladies) was a welcome relief. I had the privilege of meeting the author, as well as Rose Callahan, the photographer for the book "I Am Dandy", and G Bruce Boyer, who wrote a foreward for Hugo's book, as well as a number of other well turned-out attendees.

Today's attire is more relaxed than yesterday's, with an eye to this week's Friday Challenge, which is to imitate, emulate, or otherwise evoke the style and substance of the poster known as Roycru. Roycru's style is traditional American, and is complemented by his inscrutable deadpan expression in nearly all his photos. For one of my photos, I've attempted deadpan inscrutability, but believe that I've only achieved a mildly dyspeptic visage. Alas.

Sports jacket, shirt, trousers & shoes - BB
Tie - PRL
PS - Drake's, via the Armoury, NYC
Hat - Goorin Brothers, Toronto

I am wearing today a vintage unstructured sport coat I thrifted for almost free on Ebay, paired with flannel pants and suede shoes.

I like the cut, but it's a little short I think (doesn't fully cover the seat). Anyway, given the price, I'm happy with it.

Morning light isn't enough anymore to catch real colors: see spoilers for this!

Have a good week-end gents!

After a very non-Styleforum fit, I decided to do my best Claghorn impersonation.

SuSu jacket
PC shirt
KW square and tie
Lands End pants
Meermin shoes

EDIT: Shirt looks a little white, but it's light blue.

Glad to see my fit inspired your discussion, gentlemen. @PCK1, i tink the look would work with a white shirt as well, i´d swap the tie then. Some pages ago i posted the same suit with a grey striped shirt and a black cashmere tie...

Is that a Hudson jacket, @CaptainTohm? Looks really good and I think you posted once your size and you and I share the same size... I might have to try that model.

Yep! That's the cashmere blend currently available in the FW collection. I love the wider papers lapels, especially compared to the Havana. I had to have the sleeves lengthened by a quarter inch, no other alterations.
