Thanks for sharing your thought process and insight, stitches. I do indeed like the tie, and given your comments and the fact that it's unlined, I will cede that it works well regardless of context. I'm not one to always abide by the "rules" when it comes to neckwear, either; on the other end of the spectrum, I think shantung/tussah is fine any time of the year. Of course, my opinions might be swayed by the fact that I'm in the Gulf Coast region, where it's hotter than hell 8 months of the year, and we don't even know what "winter" is.

Sunny clothes for a rainy day - at least it's Friday . . .

Best tie ever.

Funny, that's the only part of this that I didn't like so much. This is completely subjective, but the almost pattern (the little circles) didn't do it for me - I'd have prefered a it just as a textured green or a more densely patterned tie, rather than something that seemed neither one thing nor the other. But, as I said, that's just my preference. Objectively, it's all excellent. The texture of the suit fabric is just perfect.

They are little squares not circles. That changes everything obviously.

As an aside, I think that it was those little squares that really brought the tie together with the square.
