Seeing that clip reminded me of my first MTM fitting, in 2003, at Brooks Bros., which Martin did, when Brooks did all their MTM work through his factory. I had never had a suit made to measure before, and I wanted a three-piece suit. There were no three-piece suits ready-made in house, so Martin took his own waistcoat off, and had me wear it, in order so that he could take the measurements for it. He was wearing a heavy gold pocket watch, which he handed to me, and said, "That is all I have left of my family." One doesn't expect a Holocaust story in the middle of one's suit fitting, but Martin is a master fitter, a master salesman and a fearless storyteller - all at once.

I note also that the waistcoat that Martin was wearing has pleats running from the bottom pockets towards the top pockets - a feature he insisted that I have on my suit as well. Although I've lost a good deal of weight since Martin made me that suit, I've had it refitted (two or three times) since it was made - it's rather a piece of history.

Kind of frumpled at the end of a long day.

This. Solid day, gents.

A not so solid day for me. All patterns except for the shoes. Not sure if the pants count. The belt is black watch. I should have gone without the tie, but I was trying to get a striped tie in for the challenge. Too much in hindsight. Sans tie, this would be my apres ski fit.

I like what you're doing with colors. A few observations (YMMV, etc): - there's a bit of tension for me between the silk in the tie and square (formal) and the (worsted?) trousers on the one hand and the oxford cloth and corduroy on the other. (Some would add the button collar to that side, but that's a whole debate for another day) - For similar reasons, I've come not to prefer button collars on striped shirts, but that's probably a matter of personal taste, and the oxford weave probably makes it OK. - The gauge of the stripes is right on the border of being a bit too close to, and having a nasty fistfight with, the wale of the corduroy. - I might have also gone a hair lighter on the trou -- maybe an olive green flannel, or a melange mid-blue. - I probably would have gone wingtip/longwing blutchers. The CTBs you chose are probably fine, but the cord there really calls for something a bit more casual. Again, take it for what it's worth.

AS - I saw your post and thought, "if only he didn't wear that tie." I'm glad you agree. Sans tie, I love it.
