Here it's cool enough to get a tweed 3-piece out for the first time this year. This one is J-Press, a bargain straight from ebay, and it fits me perfectly without a single alteration to either pants or jacket - even the trouser cuffs are exactly the height I like - how awesome it that? I have no idea how old it is, but has the old Amalgamated garment workers label inside the interior pocket - and it is in A1 condition. Next time I wear it, I'll actually try to make sure I take a decent picture... (tie is PRL, shirt is BBGF, and it's worn with - unseen - brown captoe brogues)

I don't think I would ever purchase a tie like that, but it looks so complimentary in this outfit. Maybe its the beard that pulls it all together...

Patterned grenadines look like 8-bit Nintendo games.

I never have more than two colors in any of mine.

I confess to being among the minority of folk who were never that enamored of what was for a while described as the SF ‘club tie.’

Horses for courses.

Cheers,

Ac  :)

This jacket is beautiful! The tie is not the best in this context, for me...

Just received some new-to-me chukkas, courtesy of @Ironist, and this was my first attempt at 'em. I don't think I hit the mark - too subdued/low-contrast up top for the warmth of the snuff suede below.

Suggestions on what to change? Would just swapping the tie to something more saturated be enough, or do you think it needs a different jacket/trews? Que lastima.

I tried the @Coxsackie "walk at me, bro" shot...
It came out blurry... (Click to show)

Nice fit. I had the same issue. I felt like a dark brown suede chukka would just be infinitely easier to wear.

Now you tell me wink.gif

I think more color up top is going to be key; a lighter-than-navy jacket maybe and a tie with more visual interest like a forest or kelly green, or rust. I'll keep at it, they fit great! nod[1].gif

Well, I figured you knew what you were getting into biggrin.gif. Glad they fit you well though. I agree, the snuff suede just stands out in contrast to the subdued colors of the rest of your outfit... But we're being picky here and it still looks good just not optimal. Rust would be great, especially if you have a nice patterned sport coat to match it. Or it would be a lot easier if you just gave up and wore jeans or chinos sans tie and sport coat.

@jcmeyer, the answer is definitely to have more colour in the upper block. That is virtually an all-grey outfit and the chukkas maybe "pop" a bit too much.

As for the "walk at me" shot, I have the camera set to rapid-fire shooting (not sure what the technical name is); focusing to "continuous" or "tracking focus". High ISO and wide aperture so that shutter speed is fast. You will end up with about twenty photos, of which at least one should be vaguely acceptable.

Definitely agree with the rust ;)

Btw, i have to said, that i don't like every think in your differents outfit, but you wear it well and that goes well with you.

Well @bienluienaprisit would be crazy anyway to think that everyone in here likes my stuff - given my kits are anything but CBD. That is just fine - i think there´s a spectrum of outfits and everyone has their own sartorial preferences. I am happy with people not digging it - and am eager to learn how to improve (as in "not being opressed to copy another´s style for the sake of fitting in").

If there's any fault with today's fit in my own eyes, it's the shirt collar - a bit too elongated and pointy for the casual cut of the suit. But I really love that saturated blue. Maybe I'm just a wannabe gangsta.

This, @Coxsackie. As discussed at length, brown would have been the safe choice, but i like this twist on the color scheme. Well done, if you ask me.

@Chulillo, thanx chap. Wasn´t sure about the shoes neither, but couldn´t think of a better alternative. Maybe some brown grain wingtip brogue oxfords...a pair i am missing entirely in my wardrobe (--> off to buy some).

@Mr. Six, a great choice. Small timers like me can only dream of buying at NMWA - one fine day, maybe.

@bienluienapris, this kit might have worked better without the cardigan - it somehow clashes with the rest, colorwise. What about a rust tone, or some dark orange? That would have played well with the tie - given you´d have chosen to swap the ps for a light blue / orange one, reflecting either shirt or cardigan. Loving the hat, though.

Awesome jacket, but as others said, the tie & shirt aren´t my cup of tea. Anyhow, you pull it off very well, @DiplomaticTies

That suit is on fire, @FlyingMonkey! Killer getup. I probably wouldn´t have chosen the tie and might have swapped it by some browns, but the rest is spot on.

Lovely fabric and lapels @Academic2. That tie angle is gold.

Nice color play, but going for brown instead of grey might have a better choice. I think a burnt orange or dark blue woolen tie could have been great, too. Anyhow, lovely rims, @jcmeyer!

The same jacket, but a different suit. Three piece is the way to go to fight of the creeping cold...
