HOF: What Are You Wearing Right Now - Part IV (starting May 2014) - Page 1676

Since we were recently on the topic of formality mis-matches, I think it might be pertinent to raise another question:

As much as I like VictorSF's fits, I noticed he wears a lot of French cuffs and ostentatious cufflinks in some pretty casual settings. Personally, that's a pet peeve of mine, no matter how much I like his fits usually.

Am I being to pedantic?

I'm no stickler to the rules.  I'm more or less a casual bystander, who breaks at least one rule daily.  However, cufflinks with casual fits drive me crazy.  I also generally dislike cufflinks, regardless of  formality (not including black tie obviously).  That might play into it.

I think it a natural waist.

The last time someone questioned Victor, he was never heard from again. Certain things are not wise...

Another one here who dislikes french cuffs with casual fits. Well, in general really.

Well, he's made another return so that's not true. You mean we're not allowed any questioning for fear of posters leaving? That's ridiculous. What's the point of this thread then? Better go to Instagram...

On top of my head, I don't think I was a member on here at the time. Anyway, even if I had been, should people just stop asking questions and debate some topics out of fear some member might run away?

On internet fora, it is expected not everyone will share the same opinion - otherwise the internet would become pretty dull.

Duly noted, though.

:embar: Joke that Victor would do away with him?

Oh jesus you two. I was not saying don't question people (the "he" i was referring to meant the questioner, not victor. I was unclear?). A while back people were saying Victor looked like he was a secret agent, or a mob guy. My post was a continuation on that.

Questioning whether someone's a mob guy or whether French cuffs are appropriate in casual fits are two different things, surely?

I like french cuffs even with more casual fits and for autumnal fits I have some tweed cufflinks. There is also the option to use silk knots instead of cufflinks to make it a little bit less formal.

Oh. My bad, that was not the way I interpreted your post. I misunderstood the 'he' you were referring to.

Yeah, once I re-read, I saw the ambiguity

As much as i like Paul-lux fits and style (appreciative reader of his writings of PG and his tumblr), i am not feeling his square there. It looks like his shirt was looped through his breast pocket. That being said, everything else is stellar.

Much as Iike Victor's attention to detail in his more formal fits, I generally don't like his 'casual' fits like this last one - pressed jeans with French cuffs and leather - no. The only reason it looks like it works to some, I suspect, is because of the professional quality of the photography.

Choc, I don't think the odd vest works with that suit. And did you just go from air-conditioned space to air-conditioned space? A three-piece in the heat that's hit California this last week verges on masochism.
