My thoughts basically. I probably wouldn't want to bare my braces if they are clipons, but, I think it's overly fussy to condemn clipon braces entirely even if sure button ones are preferable. If you have trousers with no buttons and they won't be seen then who cares, especially if you're wearing, say, db jackets.

Anyone else pronounce "Lerglas" like a mumbled version of "Legolas"? lol8[1].gif

I had occasion to rifle through my collection of suits the other evening, and I came across today's suit, a cheap experiment from Jos. A. Bank - a Signature Platinum, their top-of-the-line made in Italy suit, heavily marked down (as only JAB can do - even with tailoring both at the store and by my local alterations tailor, total cost was about $400). I decided to give it a whirl today - a day of attractive junk, if you will.

Suit - JAB Signature Platinum
Shirt & braces - Lewin
Tie - JAB
Cufflinks - Penhaligon's
Shoes - Finsbury, Paris

Hi Roy Al,

Props to the new posing location. Much better than your usual one, awesome speakers notwithstanding.

Really like this fit but I have a couple of nitpicks. Firstly, is that a suit? If not, trousers and jacket are too closely matched.

Secondly, I would prefer a little less break on the trousers. Also, you're a tall guy (I think) and could definitely pull off 2" trouser cuffs.

Other than that, good work, and keep posing in that spot!

Cool, I think the angle and the stressed position messed up the sleeves a bit, I don't consider them too small (Lenghtwise or regarding tightness).
The blazer IS a bit too short, I've moved towards longer jackets as of lately but still want to use my old pieces and I like the casual touch it adds, wears like a sweater.

Lerglas is by the name Lerglas, there is no affiliation with that damn fairy...

+1 on the shoes Coxsackie

There are some good observations in there. Even if you don't agree, worth pondering if you value coherent dress. Coherence is not incompatible with dressing with flair. The hard part is combining them.

@TweedyProf gets it.

On the U.S. sitcom, Frasier, the title character describes his apartment decorating style as "eclectic," saying that rather than trying to make anything match the thinking is that placing various very fine objects in the room will make the entire set-up work together because of the furniture's quality.
Assuming everyone doesn't just think that's bullshit, is there a sartorial equivalent?
I ask mainly because while I see that @EliodA
has a point about the Spoo fit with th green tie, the tie, jacket and shirt look so nice that I think my eyes are forcing them to cohere, even though they may not.

Hey SB, thanks for your answer - I think you got me wrong, tho (or I expressed myself in a bad way - put the blame on language barrier). I thought Iso was asking why most people on here were against clip-ons. I simply offered my personal hypothesis as to why people preferred buttoned braces to clip-ons suspenders.

While I prefer buttoned braces too, I never said anywhere that I hated them. In fact, I, too, own a pair of basic clip-ons for those trousers yet not graced by the presence of suspender buttons.

I may have misinterpreted Iso's question, tho!

Anyway, hope we good!

I like Spoos first one for its daringness but at the end of the day, the bottle green shantung doesn't work for me with that guncheck. Might be an artifact of the photo, and the tie is really more matte. I think the right green would be an inspired choice and I like the jacket. I sort of see why Spoo might have folded his square. The fit is busy enough. We are tending to overload patterns here in SF when subtlety can be better (I'm a culprit). The PS is understated. Anyway, you can learn some useful lesson from that fit, so I'm glad to have dropped in and seen it.
