Jacket, not a suit. I hate flaps, both in appearance and function, congruency be damned. The shirt by itself is incongruent as it is a full spread in a very rough linen (the jacket is also linen, despite peak lapels). But I think I've become oblivious to shirt collar incongruity as I where spreads with everything (including untucked without a jacket).

Oddly enough, this didn't really feel much like an FU look to me.

I think it's a good look so don't be hard on yourself. 346 usually has nice designs (such as yours) but low grade material that won't knot worth a damn. i can't believe they sell them at outlets for $40+. I'm actively purging mine from my wardrobe too.

My go to navy tie is a wool-silk blend from 346. Makes an amazing knot and has a wonderful feel. I think it might be the cheapest tie I own, but I've had it for several years and have never once felt inclined to replace it with a "nicer" navy. I think the thing about outlet brands is that, on the whole, most of their products will be inferior to the real thing, but there are going to be a few exceptions.

Today, for the challenge.

Agreed - when I think "FU" outfit I think very bold patterned jackets, suits, or ties. I don't really see a single FU type quality to this outift. I'm just not fond of the tucked in flaps and I think the outfit could be upgraded with a different shirt.

I like your FC outfit a lot more.

For those of you who can remember back to 2015/06/08, and my posting from the Frick Museum Spring Garden Party, my appearance did not go entirely unnoticed.

I even made a sliver of an impression on Bill Cunningham of the New York Times - a still of my backside shows up at about 00:33 in the video montage, and a shot of same backside made the Sunday Style section (the lower right hand shot).

7_r - As much as I do not like the tie as a stand alone item, I think that it actually works really well in that ensemble and makes for a great summer look.

First thing Monday morning I'm calling Cunningham and demand that he get off your back!
