i know what you mean yes. They are a leather called shell cordovan. Some folks love and some don't. And some definitely feel it incongruent with loafers. It is very much in keeping with a certain tradition just not one that is consistent with the preferences of this thread/forum (which is ok)

Appreciate the fine words Stitchy (and all who took time to weigh in): I do value the feedback. I will take it into account in my own way. I do think I'm beginning to come into my own and feel comfortable with my choices, so this may be one instance where we are riding different waves -- though not so different in the end if thumbs are the only metric (which is a dangerous and myopic yardstick). All of which is ok. I'm not saying I'll always wear that rig sockless with loafers. And this thread should not always lack dissenting voices and divergent styles.

+1, superb fit. Also, I love the contrast between colourful background and your minimalist style.

Consignment shop. Sleeve alterations cost me more than the jacket did. smile.gif

Well, so there was never any question; I was either going to have the YSL one copied, or not. I don't need to copy an Epaulet suit as I can always just have another made. But so I think the answer is that I am in fact going to take the plunge and see if Luxire can replicate this. After getting back from the tailor, I'm pretty happy with how it came out.

I really like the full-cut pants, too. I think my legs are just weird enough that slimmer trousers just won't drape right. Super slim denim is probably fine, but for suit pants, it seems like full-cut is probably the way to go for me.

I don't think I will wear it with the vest, but here are shots with the vest and of details:

I like it with the vest more actually. And I think the pants can be narrowed, especially below the knee, while still maintaining that full cut.

(asking innocently)
How would you describe your taste in ties? @StanleyVanBuren

It is. In summer. But I wanted to do the tie (a gift from Noodles) and the restaurant justice. Mostly just the tie. Managed to get from my door to my car, my car to the restaurant, the restaurant (which was air conditioned to the point that Mrs. Claghorn wore my jacket while inside...which was very cute and the surgeons cuffs were actually used to roll up the sleeves...she's 5 foot nothing and her hands didn't even come close to emerging from the sleeves with them at the regular length...flopping around, the sleeves were bound to fall into some sort of dish) to my car, and my car to the door without breaking a sweat.

SVB, I asked in WAYWT if that's vintage, and I find my answer here.

I think the suit would benefit from a higher (but not high) gorge and more open fronts. The buttoning point also looks slightly low, but that could be an impression created by the closed fronts. And, while I might regret saying so, the coat looks just a wee bit long, but again that might be an impression created by the closed fronts.

Before you have Luxire replicate this, could you humor us by pinning the fronts open a bit just to see what it looks like?

SVB, the suit fits very well, but I don't think it's doing you any favours to be honest. The shoulders need to be built up considerably.

It's certainly vintage in styling, but not in a good way IMHO.

Very nice, background, outfit and dog. Tie is black I assume?

Thanks, Sander. Tie is indeed black--a silk knit.

The suit is a Despos original. And I agree with you, I think he pretty much nailed my fit on this one. And it moves so naturally, it's really a joy to wear.
