At a law ball event. My Jacket botton fell off on the day hence the reason jacket is not buttoned. A big shout out to all my distinguished learned friends.

Murl and SB do not like the slub.

A lost opportunity to play with textures in a fit.

Man, I love autumn/winter. Flannel and the matte bourette silk of the tie is just perfect.

Back to boring and the maiden voyage of my new wool herringbone tie.

AS--in regards to slubby ties, here is my general thought. I think what is most important is that the textures are all coherent--I think it is much less important that the textures "belong" to a different season.

Below is a picture of Vox with what appears to be one of his lin-co shirts:



I am too lazy to search for better examples, but here goes it. Although the linen cotton mix is "more appropriate" in the summer months, the textures of the shirt look at home with the F/W suit. Although I guess some "textures" can be put into one category or the other--flannel / tweed in winter, slubby silk / wrinkles in summer, I think that in some cases a bit of cross-over never hurt anyone. I have a dark green shantung tie with cream stripes, and would not hesitate to wear it in the winter months.

To be honest, especially with shirts, I find some practicality with a lighter shirt, and heavier jacket. Sometimes I want to wear a heavier jacket, but it just isn't cold enough to wear a heavy oxford. As long as the textures are consistent, I don't see a problem in breaking the rules a bit.

If it looks good, I say go for it.

Officially, its a S/S thing, but I think with the texture, it looks great with a fall ensemble too.

So true but I was just so lazy to learn to tie one. I looked up so many tutorials on how to self-tie a bow tie and still could not get it right. Reason I opted for an already made one.
