That looks like a lovely flannel and is a great color. Looking real sharp! Apparently, a button-down collar with a suit is frowned on in these parts, but I don't care: this is a very good fit.

Thought about a white or cream square, but ultimately decided against it.

Also, sorry for the crappy lighting. Pents are charcoal.

Thanks! There was some discussion a while back on the subject of BD shirts with suits. I believe it was argued by some that this is in fact a classic American dress trope, hence allowable; the wearing of OCBDs as part of casual ensembles, i.e. without tie, is a far more recent phenomenon.

In the UK my fit would possibly be frowned upon. However, I live in Australia, where merely donning a pair of lace-up shoes identifies one as either a silvertail or a hipster. (I, of course, am both.)

Now if I had more sprezzatura, I wouldn't have bothered doing up the buttons.

But I like going against the trend. My aim is always to look as studied as possible, without actually expending any effort.

Asking out of ignorance, not trying to make a point: are peak lapels and hip patch pockets congruent with each other? I like a peak lapel and am currently thinking of getting my next few jackets with patch pockets, but had it in my head (and I'm not sure why) that the peak lapel would be a bit more formal while the patch pockets are pretty far to the casual side. Happy to be told otherwise!

I agree they're a bit of a hippo-griff or what not (2 diff beasts mixed together)-  one formal, one casual.  But I think as long as the cut is good it's all good

Yes, you're right. Not sure what type of blue this is then. Fabric is a flannel from Cerruti.

Purple, lemon yellow, and coral.

Just kidding. Cream and charcoal, with faint navy and light blue overchecks.

The rust/burnt orange discussed in the last few pages would have been good for a square here, I think. But I understand; with a jacket pattern this busy, sometimes it seems like overkill to wear a square as well.

I respect Sir Crust and I would love to send him a bad@ss gangster chair instead of that small stool. I say this with good intentions.
