I disagree - there are iconic figures in menswear that have always dressed rather flamboyantly. Men such as Mick Jagger, Michael Caine, Al Capone (say what you will about the man's character but his style was raved about at the time), Gianni Agnelli, Tommy Nutter, David Bowie - to mention a few of the best known.
