Love the hat, mate. And it adds to the overall effect of your smart DB suit - compliments.

What is the style of hat called? I like the higher crown - but it seems to make it neither a fedora or a trilby.

I was in a hat shop and tried some brown hats. So I do not know what style the hat is, but you can see the hat here: http://www.chapellerie-traclet.com/en/felt-hats/808-roller-hat.html#/size-53/color-brown

Maybe crusty, a hat expert, can tell more about the name of the hat style.

What's up with those shoes, Clags? Blobby punched cap toe chukkas? I know you don't like spending much on shoes, but here they're actively detracting from an otherwise nice fit.

Thanks for that Don Cologne. Your link calls it a roller hat - I did some googling and it seems that a roller hat is pretty much a fedora; except that it hasn't got as much stiffener so that it can be rolled up and stored in a pocket or bag.

Not sure I'd want to do that to such a lovely hat, though. Anyway, you've now got me rather keen to get one myself.

I have a grey Akubra Stylemaster trilby - keeps me from being sunburned in summer and nicely warm in winter. Not many of us hat-wearers in Sydney though. In the beginning, I was a little self-conscious as I sailed alone in a sea of baseball caps (both front facing and hat-backwards). Now I really don't care - I like the look of them and just like wearing it.

I think this is now just taste. I actively am in love with those shoes. My shoe collection is pretty boring, but These are my new favorite of them.

As long as you're not actively making love to those shoes.

On a more serious note, it seems like a bit of a formality mismatch. I'd expect to see punch cap toes on an Oxford or a relatively formal Derby. Chukkas look best with a plain toe, and a slightly less rounded last.

I dislike plain toes (on me; I don't mind how they look on other people). I have a pair of chelseas with them which get decent wear due to their comfort, but the plain toe aspect of them always bothered me.

Not making love to them, but did rig up a shoe porn shot

Will be cutting off those straps though

@Claghorn I like pretty much everything about the fit, including kicks, and especially nice to see you away from recent standard fit pic format, out in the wild (though might put you over your 3:33 time allowance, I suspect).

@justinkapur Relatively bold ( for staid SF standards, ie, anything other than solid light blue or single blue stripe, or micro-pattern) choice of shirt. Not sure that it works in this context ( or possibly any context?) as it almost appears to be "imprisoning" the tie ( think bars of a jail cell) from the collar down. I do appreciate you trying something a bit off the well- beaten track, however.

Btw, I thought your previous fit was spot on ( slight pun): the scale and sparseness of tie pattern paired beautifully with gun check of SC. And the tie itself was quite nice, as pointed out by others.

While we're at it: where do you find a Foo-approved cream PS in silk?
