I have recently picked up three sport coats. They all seem to be a bit big in one way or another (all eBay purchases). I'd love to get some feedback, but want to be sure to post in the correct thread. Should I post my fit pictures here or somewhere else to get some fit input?

What EFV said or here if you want fit feedback and alteration advice:

If you want good feedback, check out the first post for the type of pictures that are needed. Good luck.

honestly, i think the cardigan is just a bit too long, might be better if the last button just hit below your belt?

Awesome blazer!

I appreciate the thoughts, Clags. Yeah, you'd think after all this time (admittedly with some long breaks in between due to fluctuations in interest and account balances) I'd have learned something, and in truth I have, even though it feels like only the tip of the proverbial (sadly melting) iceberg. A few things I've learned hanging around here: I have almost zero self-control when it comes to purchasing shiny new things online (shout out to gdl203 and his wicked henchmen); The quirks of my physiology combined with my obsessive nature means that I'm almost never happy with RTW, though I have thus far resisted the allocation of time and money required for bespoke; Unlike many who frequent this space, I have little daily need for a fair amount of the nice things I buy, therefore I am as much a collector as an actual wearer of fine menswear; I spend an inordinate amount of time hanging around here listening to other men talk about their clothing obsessions and looking at pictures of them in their fancy duds.

I suppose I've also learned a few things about color and pattern matching, proper fit, sartorial tradition, and a fair number of recommended do's and don't's, subject to individual discretion. I've learned that comprehension and execution are not mutually inclusive, and that I have an awful lot left to learn so I continue to look and listen and hang around.

It's often said, with good reason, that when you first come here thinking you're some kind of badass Beau Brummell, you are quickly, in many if not most cases, disabused of that notion at which point you either stick around and observe, or put up a fuss and get booed off the stage as a small number of over-inflated buffoons have over the years. That said, there is a ton of room for personal improvement for me, and perhaps I should post up a fit here now and again even if on occasion it is merely playing "dress up" (hey, technically it is What Are You Wearing Right Now, not What Are You Wearing All Day Today in the Context of Some Officially Sanctioned Activity, so I don't really see it as a problem if folks want to try out a few fits to get feedback on here. Hope this notion doesn't bum out mossrockss and others too bad, or impinge upon the sanctity of All That is Right and Good here. Then I suppose there's always the Noodles' Shop that has more of a workshop atmosphere, even though I find the addition of the "improving a business wardrobe" subtitle a bit of a turn-off --why the limitations Clags? At least I assume it's you since you are the thread daddy.)

Will it in any way involve the terms sugarbutching or murling?

Question to admin: can technically disable for me this function? (I really don't want to infringe on the rights of those who are vulnerable, jealous and close to my heart perceives "competition" (although the forum is not for this and that's obvious), it is their right, in the end)

Your posts are always a treat. Keep sending the pictures. And...if I forget to not push the thumbs up, forgive me in advance. It is just a habit.

9sympth, out of curiosity, how to you classify my pictures?

Also, I realize you weren't being critical of anyone.

I've not noticed anyone being critical of Victor. As far as I can tell, everyone loves Victor's presence here.

Victor, really like that you're getting involved with discussion of clothing!

Welcome, this may not be very helpful or constructive, but my first impression here was that you've posted pictures of yourself wearing an untied tie. Further inspection reveals that it's more likely a small silk scarf, but given my initial impression, you're probably doing something wrong. Not a scarf wearer myself, so I don't pay close attention and cannot offer more assistance in this regard, though I'm sure others can. The only other general observation I'd make is that your photos do not offer enough perspective or distance to be able to provide much feedback on proper fit, if in fact that is desired.

I really enjoy your pictures. They seem to be a combination of quality photos in a palpably 'lived' environment (if that makes any sense...). I mean, that is really the crux of my earlier concerns: Not the quality of the photos per se, but rather the authenticity of the situation (and not as an accusation of any posters, though I understand how it has been thus taken, but as a subject simply spurred by the photo-shoot vibes of late). I have partaken in many photo shoots myself and they have all been various mixes of distorting my appearance to a certain desired end, depending on the situation (makeup, false light, forced postures, pinning garments, etc...). In fact I was responding to another poster who mentioned that this thread seemed like a magazine spread recently, which is how pro photo shoots generally come across (or like a "lookbook" of sorts...), where many things HAVE THE POTENTIAL to be easily doctored (I'll take a mediocre Vox selfie over the Ralph Lauren Lookbook 7 days a week...) In any case, I find the situations in which we all capture and share our clothing to be an interesting subject, perhaps slightly deeper than "we all like pretty things, right?"

Edit: To be clear, though, I like all of the photos folks share! Sometimes the bad ones better than the good ones, and sometimes the opposite...it depends...They all belong here, though!!!
