It is a truly wonderful place, but has an unfortunate sportswear affliction.  I mean, I love sportswear too, I can't get enough cycling kit, but I can't understand why I would want to look like that all the time.  I guess that's what happens when Phil Knight is your town's Monty Burns.

That said, it has a lot more truly stylish people than it's given credit for.

Ha! Yes, the sportswear and now street wear craze is a bit much. What do you do here?

I've worn button down shirts with suits for over fifty years.

I really like the blue hounds tooth SC. I've tried on a Sammuelsohn blue hounds tooth more than once and will probably own one eventually. I'm a little surprised that Betel seems to be the only one who ever sports one in here...

Portland is a great city. There's great food, good coffee, beautiful scenery, and decent shopping (getting better). Also, there's no sales tax! If you ever come this way, I'd be glad to grab a beer and show you around.

That is Very gracious, Thank You!

I suppose the short answer is that I'm an artist.  Right now I work freelance making a lot of prototypes for the toy industry.  I'm also a musician, but I've done mostly stuff for film and TV recently, and haven't played live in a while.  Plus several other hats that I wear from time to time.  Yourself?

That's awesome! Do you work with any local shops/businesses? I work in the natural food industry, mainly dealing with export sales.

Question for you; since you live in Portland and are a very well dressed gentleman, where do you shop (if locally)?

I like your second outfit. Very nice. Can you tell us who made that blue SC?

You seem to have a classic up-to-date style.

One question regarding the vest you are wearin in the first picture, are they comfortable? I mean, are they easy to wear? I always liked them but I am afraid they would be a nuissance due to how low they go...

Thank you, next time I try to show some more ;)

Finally, since the streets of New York have dried out enough to wear them, the new shoes from the recent trip to London (Crockett & Jones, obtained at a rock-bottom price due to close-out at Ede & Ravenscroft), along with today's sports jacket, bought on sale at Austin Reed.

Sports jacket - Chester Barrie, via Austin Reed, London
Shirt, tie, & trousers - BB
PS - Robert Talbott
Shoes - C & J Edgwares, via Ede & Ravenscroft, London
Overcoat - Joseph Abboud
Scarf - Hickey Freeman
Cap - Christy's, via Thomas Farthing, London

It's been a minute - largely due to the fact that its been a minute since I've worn anything resembling proper tailoring. That said, I'm (semi) respectable today because I'm headed to Bloomingdales NYC's tailored clothing event tonight at their 59th St. store from 6:30-8:30. If you're in the area and would like to chat please stop by and say hi.

Deets :

Eidos Shepherd's check jacket (tallia delfino) in the Primo silhouette
Eidos blue/white multi stripe (albini) "Marcus" collar dress shirt
Rose & Born navy wool knit tie
Eidos "Agnelli flannel" gray flannel (VBC) Sal pant
Eidox X Christian Kimber chocolate chisseled chukka boot

The question is: will I be better dressed than the faculty candidate I interview today?

Follow-up: Should his hiring depend upon the result?
