I'm sure she is a woman of taste, intelligence, and distinction. But she's dead wrong here. No wider than this. Ever.

X-post from this week's FC....

Unfortunately (or thankfully, perhaps?), I didn't get any of this during my lectures today..... (Click to show)

Do you and @patrickBOOTH
share the same cutter? Shoulder expression is quite different. I know nothing of Ercoles other than I want something made from him.

Yea, I'm not so sure what his "default" is anymore. But we do use the same guy.

I only own suits, no odd jackets or trousers. If the fabric is casual enough (tweed, seersucker, etc) it counters the formality.

This is a really nice paisley but I think the odd vest is too dark and fails to tie everything together. I have one odd vest and also struggle with finding a good way to wear it.

a) it is required of me
or
b) the suit is super casual

(And an odd jacket is still formal out of a requiring context...but it is less so than a suit)

In my opinion there's no extra effort in wearing a suit vs. proper trousers, a sport coat, and tie. Suits look better to me than any sport coat combination out there. Given the expense of a suit is roughly the same as a sportcoat/trouser combination, and there's no extra effort involved (actually less effort) and to me it looks better a suit is a no-brainer. In this day and age most people don't even see the relative formality of a sport coat vs. suit and they just lump it all into "jacket and tie" so I think the formality measure doesn't hold much water in your argument. Unless of course you're wearing jeans with a sport coat.

It's true - people often say 'nice suit' when I'm wearing an odd jacket and tie...

Oh, come, come, Ping. I suspect many of the young ladies in your class were making puppy-dog eyes at you the whole time. You are just too modest to notice.
