It's also a very European thing to dismiss anything they don't like as American.

The reasons why Europeans aren't too keen on cuffs are rooted in sartorial tradition influenced by wartime economics, not taste.

i see, my opinion has got nothing to do with wartime economics I assure you.

You are probably my favorite poster in terms of consistently liking what you wear. It's really rare that I don't think you execute perfectly--I generally even like the few of your outfits that don't garner much praise. (You and @timotune pretty much dress in such a way that strongly appeals to my sartorial preferences)

And of course, the suit is amazing. And I like the tie and square (fold and all) with it.

I agree about the shirt. I find it too formal for the suit. The neat tie, I think, is even a bit of a stretch. Fit and colors are great, and the suit deserves all the praise that it's received.

I personally do not have any cuffed pants.  To me, they ruin the slim, trim and straight lines of a good suit.  But, thats a personal opinion - and one I won't push on anyone.  I think the uncuffed pants look fine :)

White shirt is perfect there. It's about as classic a combination as you're going to see.

I just think cuffs look nicer and add to the general look. Visual interest perhaps. Ymmv obvi

Just got a pair of corduroy trousers, won't be cuffing them. That's probably the only kind of CM trouser I don't prefer cuffed though.

I disagree. I've never been a fan of white shirt/black tie outside of a formal black tie setting. Blue shirt/black tie I am good with.

I agree. Corduroy is generally too bulky of a fabric for cuffs to look right on them to me.

None of mine are cuffed, but was thinking of getting one or two cuffed just to mix it up a bit. And Spoo and others have proved that cuffed trousers can still look very elegant in a European way.

Does it matter to you whether we're talking about a suit or odd trousers?

Just curious.

Cheers,

Also I cuff everything from wool to linen to chinos to jeans. NO REGRETS!

I like the combo on the green tweed, bold shirt notwithstanding. sometimes congruity can be sacrificed to an extent I think.

New tie.  Old charcoal suit.

You are welcome to disagree! Thats part of the fun.

But. And I know this makes me sound like a dick, on this one, you are in the vast vast minority. Blue/navy suit, white shirt, black tie, is a factual classic. You are welcome to hate it and never wear it, and prefer the look with a blue shirt, but there absolutely nothing wrong with it.
