Thanks gents for all the kind words. This is the first Havana-fit garment I've purchased from SuSu. Previously didn't fancy the high buttoning point. For a 3pc, this doesn't matter (and in any case I've heard that it's been lowered for this season - not sure whether my own suit has the higher or lower buttoning point).

Anyway I hover between a 50 and a 52 (EU) in most OTR brands. This suit is a 52 which appears to be ample. The jacket has had zero alteration of any kind, although at some point I might get the sleeves shortened by 1cm or so.

Oddly enough, the waistcoat was a 50 - someone had apparently done a sneaky little waistcoat swap-out at some previous point. SuitSupply graciously agreed to let out the waistcoat free of charge - they found another 2cm for me and it's perfect now. In fact I suspect it may fit me better than a 52 would have. I tried on a 54 waistcoat and was swimming in it.

Bit different for me:

Jacket: Dunhill
Shirt local shop
Tie: Hober
Pocket square: Stefano Ricci
Shoes: Gaziano and Girling.

So today I had a situation where I had to dress in a much more conservative fit. I generally don't post pictures if I do my old school stuff, but it is looking like I am going to have to dress a bit more old man-ish for a while.

Question: can donegal be paired with donegal? Or does the texture in that case act more as the pattern, making the clash?

My American tailors term themselves "custom" while my English talors use "bespoke." That's all I got......

A day on the road, listening to music scholarship auditions.

Off the cuff;

Donegal tie and donegal pants: Sure

Donegal tie and SC/suit - Possible maybe

Donegal pants and SC - Less possible but still maybe

I am going to say yes, maybe-no, no.

I don't know, with donegal you cannot vary the patterns like you can with herringbone. I have tried donegal on donegal, in the mirror, and decided it just looked silly.

I want to love, but ultimately the pants are too dark. There's no interplay with the jacket which serves to make it stand out even more than it already does. Mid-brown pants with some texture would work better, I think. I like the tie with the jacket.

But what if you go AAS and just keep adding donegal items? Will you go so far out that you come back in?

AAS, if you have a sufficiently deep bench of donegal items, please do us the service of creating an AllDon™ fit. smile.gif

I only have donegal pants.  I think DC could pull it off.

This is basically what I thought.

And it was donegal tie + donegal SC I was thinking, but I think I'ma go in a different direction.

I trust you'll be rectifying this deficiency post haste?
