Thanks, dude. Interested in your suggestions. The jacket reads as mid-gray even though it's dove and gray herringbone. I went with my dove grays because a) I thought that worked better with the dove gray in the weave; and b) Anders/Adreas previously asked what to wear with a herringbone jacket and was told dove gray/beige flannel.

All depends on the tie, but I guess I would have to go darker? Like chocolate brown, army green or mid gray? I just don't know I could go any lighter than what I have.

Or maybe I'm just a touch too wide.

(Yes, I wish it were about a quarter inch or two wider through the whole body. But it's Battistoni 7 fold, tremendously saturated and exceptions must be made.)

I think that might be a tough SC to pair. My initial thoughts as to what pants to pair with it would be a richer brown, navy, or a rich green.

Herringbone tweed is pretty standard, no?

Right. We're thinking along the same lines. Will try that and see how we go. Thanks!

Thanks a lot guys! Very kind of you! Funnily enough, it's truly one of my Frankenstein suits, meaning:

- I bought the fabric myself (Loro Piana) from an MTM tailor guy who's got the best ROI per sq. m. in Paris, if not in France. The guy sells 20'000 suits a year and has a 10 sq. m shop. He basically does small RTW series each year but buys fabric per kilometer. So I just got a great price on this fabric.

- Then I gave it with a David Diagne suit (former Lanvin bespoke cutter, now independent (for 7 years already) to a HK tailor to copy it (NK Fashion) but without making the buttonholes as they tend to be far from fine

- FInally altered the suit at home in Luxembourg once received as copies are never copies

- Gave it to Jessica de Hody in Paris for a wonderful hand sewn buttonhole!

Heldentenor-

I generally admire your style, but I need to ask: Do you own any full suits at all? happy.gif

A point of curiosity… Is Stichy still refusing to wear pocket squares?

Thanks, Mr. Daniels--I do have a couple of suits, but only wear them for big events (weddings, funerals and the like).  At my university, suits for anyone who isn't a dean or other higher administrator would be a bridge too far, I think.

I do think I need to mix up my tweeds/flannels/loud SCs with some conservative fits more often, though, so maybe I'll break out some navy solids later this week.

Yes it is, but I think that kind of mid hue gray/beige is not super easy. But there are definitely options.

I hear you, Stitchy; was looking for an alternative to the ubiquitous light blue shirt that I usually wear with this.  Is this jacket sufficiently loud that it should only be paired with solids or shirts that read as solids (like those EliodA wears effectively)?

It seems people tend to want to move away from the solid light blue shirt at times, just for varieties sake, but sometimes it really is the best option. I think a simple blue/white striped shirt with the proper scale could work well there too, or a much smaller graph check. Also, as the jacket is so textured, a cotton shirt with some texture, might be a good idea.

A look at my last number of fits would prove that indeed I have joined the ranks of the PS wearers. Huzzah!
