It may also just be the picture, but the fabric of that tuxedo jacket doesn't really look like the sort of thing that goes with black tie.

If you don’t think of it as needing to fit like menswear fits, I think it works (which is fair, since we’re already dispatching with social norms in this thread). Of course, that could just be a halo effect from being worn by young Julia Roberts.
The tie and suit fabric are awful.
