Hi, I'm new to the forums and decided to pull the trigger on my first pair of John Lobb ready to wear. I'm thinking of getting the Luffield and I can't decide between dark brown museum or black museum. This will probably be my only JLP for a while so I want to make the right choice.

That depends on a whole lot of other factors, e.g. your intended use, what other shoes you have

I was going to buy Luffield not as a beater but to wear once a month or mostly formal occasions. I already have other pairs of black and brown dress casual shoes.

If they are mainly for formal occasions then go for black.

I'm now leaning towards black thank you. But how are John Lobb's Museum calf? What leathers do they offer.

If I was going for one pair of Lobbs it would definitely be new gold. None of the other makers that I've seen have anything similar.
