How's that for the title of a pR0n thread! Actually, all you will see (thank God) is the inside of one of his suits.

Nicoloso makes, by consensus, the most hand-sewn suit in New York. I agree. Yet in my case, the damned thing just doesn't fit. I would have given it away, but it wouldn't fit anyone; trust me on this. If anyone wants an explanation, I will provide it.

Hand lapped center backseam:

Hand lapped rear sleeve seam:

Hand attached collar. You can also see evidence, on the underside of the lapel, of the hand padding:

Hand padded lapel:

Hand made canvas, if a bit sloppy. Note that even the dart is handsewn:

Handmade intercollar, also a mite sloppy. Stress from the destructive process could have caused that mayhem, however:

Handsewn sleevehead wadding, but machine set sleeve. I tried and tried, but the pics all sucked.

I shall do my best to honor any requests for furhter pics that y'all may want to see.

Excellent. Scrolling down was like a murder mystery. Is Manton really going to chop up a suit, or is it a tease... And then blam, guts everywhere.

Wow,
I am getting messed up by this, kind of like watching regular Appreciation too much, you look at women in an unhealthy way....every coat I see, I wonder what is underneath....not good. I have an Isaia I could cut up....****, did I just say that?

Thanks Manton.

Manton, isn't this the tailor from whom you actually requested an all-handmade suit? That is, this wouldn't be his default? I recall you did that with someone.

p.s. that wasn't long ago - the fit was that off? Have you lost/gained weight?

This is his default. I don't think I've ever requested 100% handmade from anyone. I have requested zero padding.

Nice cloth and make, yes, but it fit no living human. There may have been an alien somewhere with the right physique, but I doubt if his kind has yet visited earth.

I want to make one thing clear, however. I don't mean to bash Vincent. I think he is a great tailor. I am not one of those message board dolts who has one bad experience with one tailor and then assumes that said experience defines that tailor's skills, his entire career, and the experience of every one of his clients. I have three friends who are Nicolosi clients, and one of them is even pickier than me. Vincent makes great clothes for all of them -- I readily acknowledge that. But what he made for me was off, and unsalvageable. I didn't have any interest in trying again. However, the moral of the story is, while a certain tailor may not be right for you, he may nonetheless be the perfect tailor for someone else.

I didn't think you were giving him a hard time; I'm just a sucker for double breasted suits and that seemed to be a very fine example.

That wasn't so much meant for you, as it was a general disclaimer for this thread.

Did he actually charge you for the said unsalvageable suit? What went wrong? How was the fit off? You should have taken pictures of you wearing it for us to judge for ourselves how off the suit was.
