What is a way to gain weight without working out? ( would work out but iv been told not to do it till you hit 18)
Does the 6 meals per day thing apply only if you work out?

If you try to gain weight without working out, you'll gain bodyfat.

Well, whoever told you this is just wrong. High school athletes hit the gym all the time, there's nothing wrong their growth. You might need professional instruction though.

I think www.bodybuilding.com forums would be a better place for your question, but as far as I know the 6 meal a day plan is primarily used to slow down your metabolism. If you take the food you eat from your traditional 3 and spread it over 6, you may gain a little more weight. Most people however just eat twice, three times the food an average person eats to gain weight/size in conjunction with working out. If you don't wanna work out at all you might be able to get away with eating completely healthy foods. If you're worried about going to the gym because of stunting your growth or something , either ask your doctor if he thinks it would , or eat a lot and do other things like pushups , situps , maybe a pair of light barbells.

LOL. Here is another one: get a job where you work 16 hours a day and order dinner in every night (any i-banking or biglaw job will do).

How old are you? Working out shouldn't have any detrimental effects on growth as long as your eating sufficient amounts of food. Considering you want to gain weight, eating more then enough should be a goal.

Weightlifting should be fine. I've been hitting the weights since middle school and it hasn't stunted my growth a bit, I imagine.

Weightlifting is fine as long as you are using correct technique, that's by far the most important thing. The only thing contraindicated by your age are plyometrics.
