We also just picked up the Kangatan Moc-toe 8180 from Red Wing.  A bit more about these:
Back in the 60s, Ted ‘The Kid’ Williams was baseball’s recently-retired golden boy. Still referred to as The Greatest Hitter Who Ever Lived, he was as much a war hero as a sporting one, having taken two separate sabbaticals from his baseball career to fight for his country - first in World War Two, then later the Korean War, before returning to the MLB.

Seizing upon his marketing potential, the Sears Company released a line of sports equipment endorsed by the great man himself. In amongst the Ted Williams shotguns, Ted Williams 8mm cameras and Ted Williams fishing boats, were the Ted Williams Red Wing Boots – officially designated as the 888 and, at the time, the highest quality boot that Red Wing had ever produced.

It is from these boots that Red Wing drew inspiration for the model 8180 you see here. Using Kangatan Portage cowhide leather, rather than the kangaroo leather of the Ted Williams originals, they are built in Minnesota, just like the 888s were, and are a fitting tribute to the archival boots that inspired them.

Nice to see you guys on the forum...

Enjoyed a shot of whiskey at a the shop recently, and I can't help but wander in before/after a haircut.

Picked up a pair of those Red Wing 2907's over the summer, and a pair of danner's to boot!

Hope you guys had a great Holliday season at the shop. I was hoping you could share what new products and collections we could look forward to in the new year. Thanks.

Coming up this Saturday (12/19), we're doing a trunk show with Alden because we've had a lot of folks express interest in figuring out their sizing.   We've got our Alden rep, Steve, coming with a few additional stock styles in addition to our core stock.

And, because we're like that, we've recruited a fantastic gin company - Caledonia Spirits -  to pour drinks all day while we're fitting you into some new shoes.

Here's what they have to say about themselves:

Quote:
We were founded in 2010, by farmer and bee keeper Todd Hardie. Before Barr Hill, Todd had a commercial honey and elderberry business called Honey Gardens that received national distribution placement in Whole Foods after a chance encounter with a buyer at a Phish concert in the Northeast Kingdom in 2004. He was able to sell honey gardens to and establish the distillery.

He founded Caledonia Spirits (Barr Hill) in the town of  Hardwick, Vermont, located in the Northeast Kingdom. This rural area is rooted in farming and agriculture, and our brand has a strong connection to the landscape and neighboring farmers. Neighbors artisanal friends include Jasper Hill cheese, and Hill Farmstead brewery.

We have three spirits currently on the market, one hundred percent distilled from honey Barr Hill Vodka, our Vermont sourced corn base distillate Barr hill gin finished with raw honey and the only additional botanical of juniper. Tom cat is our reserve gin aged in New American oak barrels for six months.

Our Whiskey program will be rolling out soon, and we also have an elderberry cordial that will be back on the market with the next elderberry crop. Todd our founder is focusing on farming and growing rye for our whiskey, and also elderberries. Ryan Christiansen is our distiller.

The next vision of the company is going into Vermont produced barrels. We are currently teaming with a local cooper and making our own Vermont white oak barrels!! We are all excited.

As a bonus, we're throwing in a pair of Alden shoe trees with every pair for the whole weekend.

Doors are open 11am to 6pm, and we hope to see you there.

TLDR: Get drunk, play with shoes.

I sure like your new location. What is better than great denim and shoes next to great pizza and Mexican food? smile.gif

I just stopped by the store today and saw some of their new Alden boots and their suede chukka. Beautiful! The trunk show Saturday should be a lot of fun with cocktails and lots of Alden shoes on display to order.

I also snapped a pic of this cool titanium flask, made in Japan by Snow Peak. That would be a nice stocking stuffer. smile.gif

Thanks!  I guess I should call it out: 5010 Telegraph Avenue, Oakland.

We also landed Thrux Lawrence today.  HOLY SHIT ARE THESE BAGS AMAZING. I can't even begin to express how good they are.  We're all blown away.   More details to come when I have time to get them into the studio.

If you haven't been to the new store, you will be impressed. A lot more room, a lot more brands, a couple of big comfortable leather chairs, and some nice whiskey.
