So speaking of the sale, what explains why this Monitaly jacket hasn't moved?

Which is to say someone please buy the 44 'cause I keep looking at it.

As these were a special order, I would not expect the number of available pairs to be quite limited.

Follow-up: These Alden shoes are quickly becoming one of my favorites and they pull compliments every time I wear them. They have moved into the "must wear each week" part of my shoe rotation.

Monitaly is tricky - it's easily one of the best brands we sell for construction and design to the point where I feel that if you slapped a Visvim or whatever label in there, people would lose their shit over each piece. Yuki makes really, really advanced gear, which sometimes just doesn't resonate with our guys. In other markets he gets total sell-thru. He also sees into the future - wherever Monitaly is now, the other guys will be in 2-3 years.

Back to this jacket. It is incredible. I can't even begin to get into what it's like in person. Like the cuffs - look at them - custom knit to be wider at the seam with the sleeves, and then nice and tight on the wrists. I love this jacket so much, and if I didn't already have way too many jackets of my own, I'd have this in a second. It is so damn perfect in every way. /froths at mouth, passes out.

People are loving these. We hit a home run on them, and I'm regretting not making a pair of 11.5EE for me right now.

Oh and we are going to visit Alden next week. Keep an eye on the IG for updates on that.

You guys picked a great color/lining combination. That blanket lining is really beautiful.

Leon Magazine did a photoshoot with us, showing off all the ways to rock the 3sixteen waxed stadium jacket:

We spent all day Friday at the Alden factory, which was an amazing experience overall. No photos allowed on the floor, so I don't have any cool pictures of shoes being made.

The highlight was spending an hour getting educated on leather by Art, the president/owner of Alden. They go to extraordinary lengths on sourcing good hides, and have deep relationships with tanneries worldwide to get just the right inputs for their footwear.

Happy to answer any questions about the visit if you guys have any...

Did you guys talk at all about why they don't use more commando soles?

No, but those sole units are a gigantic pain to make. They do it in-house, starting with a 12-iron leather outsole that gets cut down to assemble into the commando. Alden is very traditional, as well, so they prefer to make the classics. It takes quite a lot to add a style to their line.

Speaking of the soles - one of the most significant things about a pair of Alden is the leather midsole they use. The president had to hunt far and wide to locate a good supplier of just the right veg-tan to build the shoe around, and showed us exactly why: if you wet your finger tip, and touch it, the moisture goes away instantly. This wicking is key to a great pair of shoes.
