Errr... Are we referring to a Sikh's turban as a hat now? (From the OP).

@in stitches, you are a class act for answering the question about customs like this. It's cool to see a 'cultural' exchange of sorts on here every now and then as well!

I like it when the FC takes me out of my comfort zone. This one certainly did.

For the challenge, and only for the challenge, as NYC will experience a monsoon later today . . .

You know what they say about assuming.

Fair enough, but I wouldn't call it headgear either. I grew where the turban has a ton of cultural and religious significance. Maybe stitchy disagrees, but I wouldn't call a yarmulke that either. It just seems off. Maybe this is a language issue in english more so than anything else given that I know you didn't mean anything by it. It just seems bizarre to me...

Anywho, if the OP picture was a casual turban, then here's a formal one.

Don't see the language issues you seem to be referring to.

No language issues. At least from my part. Clear English.

:)

I know I know! It just seems like such a weird word for it, totally devoid of any significance.

This was interesting for me anyway, I think it's because I've only ever really heard them described and talked about in hindi that hearing a word like that so seemingly devoid of all the context seems weird. Language is so bizarre.

Given that I'm hindu by birth, not sikh and I don't believe in cultural appropriation like that.... To be succinct: No.

I'm not interested in doling out the long answer.

All good then, i know the difference. just it would be nice to see cultural hats incorporated into FC fits.

This has been a surprisingly good contest so far. I was expecting trainwreck after trainwreck, but the most we've had is the "wrong kind of leaves on the line" sort of disruption.

Question:  am I correct that a sporting fit is casual by definition, even if a wool tie is worn?

Cheers,
