I like the fabric, BTW. You'd think a guy with green dress boots would be more open-minded.
OK, just for that I'm wearing my salmon-colored Kiton sportcoat with those boots to work tomorrow. And nothing else.

"There as elsewhere, I know everyone and I know no one," replied Legrandin, who would not give in so easily. "The places I know well, the people very slightly. But the places themselves seem like people, rare and wonderful people, of a delicate quality easily disillusioned by life."

wow, an interesting read! great photos of the kiton guts. I'm torn between feeling like someone just insulted one of my favorite sports teams, and feeling that "ha! Kiton really doesn't have that much on my Brionis, after all!"

I sure wish someone could show those photos to a knowledgeable employee or manager at the Kiton store, or better yet the factory in Naples to find out what their response is, and where the 18 hour jacket receives the most labor intensive steps (I assume it is an 18-20 hour coat)

I actually don't own any kiton jackets or suits anymore, had one but sold it. Now I'm a fan of their shirts (well, based on a sample of one) and definitely their ties (a growing collection, but damn they are expensive!)

You are welcome. Sometimes it is nice to cut through the sales pitch. Perhaps some day I would like to autopsy a Brioni, but today is not the day.

You guys ,must the AntiChrists for Kiton,Brioni ,Ralph Lauren (and many other luxury brands) PR executives....
We used to talk and debate openly about quality and standards but we're now reaching a new level...Testing.
Are we becoming of kind of underground "Which" or Watchdog.....

Keep in mind the context of this discussion. Nobody is saying that Kiton is junk, most all will agree that they are very, very fine garments. What is being questioned is assertions that they are in a whole different category than their competitors, that they are 95% handsewn and the like.

Agreed. It is not about quality, just about how the job gets done and what things look like behind the curtain, as it were.

Do you work for Oxxford?

Very true. I wonder what is the exact percentage, there are more sewing machines at Oxxford than at Kiton, but Oxxford hand sews the collar and the lapel. When the AAAC gang had breakfast in Chicago, there was one man who wore a cashmere sports jacket that was to die for, he stood out form the rest of us. Fit him perfectly, it was amazing, after breakfast, Chuck and I asked him what he was wearing, it was a Kiton. It sure did not suddenly become junk because of the sewing style used on the innards! I have made my point, they never claimed it was all hand sewn, just hand made. As Manton said, some of those steps are key steps, but the end result is still great work and world class fabrics that few can touch. The Truth, in you opinion, who makes an equal or better garment?
