White I have White, Revolver, Help, MMT, and Let it Be on vinyl.

Rubber Soul. White Album. Revolver.

In that order.

Sgt. Pepper gets honorable mention for recording the the whole thing on a 4-track.

Edit- I have most of the albums on vinyl, but the crown jewel is an unpeeled Butcher Cover I picked up at a yard sale in Sonoma two years ago. For one dollar.

I like the White Album a lot but I would probably have voted for Rubber Soul then Help.

For me, the best Beatles album is just the one I'm into at the moment. For me, my progression went: Peppers Revolver Abbey Road Rubber Soul Help! White Album Peppers will always have a special place in my heart for being the album that turned me on to the Beatles, but at the moment I prefer listening to Rubber Soul or White Album. Anyway what I really came to say is to rave about the Purple Chick releases that are popping up around the place: "The Beatles' CDs sound so bad that carefully digitized tracks from pristine vinyl copies are noticeably better — with crisper highs, a fuller soundstage, and more realistic reproduction of instruments and voices. And the Purple Chick editions are superior to the originals in other ways, too: The Sgt. Pepper collection contains the original record in mono and stereo, and four discs' worth of studio outtakes; the White Album comes in a whopping twelve-disc version, including alternate takes, studio chatter, demos and fascinating jams." http://www.rollingstone.com/news/cov...200609/page/20 Easy to find on Demonoid, haven't seen it on public torrent sites though.

n order to keep this Beatles thread going, does anyone think that The White Album could have been the greatest Beatles album (and maybe Greatest. Album. Ever.) if they had had the discipline to separate the wheat from the chaff and released it as a single album? I know you can't put the genie back in the bottle but think of the possibilities. I'm going to play with the album list on my I-Pod and see if I can come up with that mythical greatest album.

I'm surprised Magical Mystery Tour doesn't get more love. I Am the Walrus could very well be my favorite Beatles song ever. If Strawberry Fields Forever and Penny Lane had made it to Sgt. Pepper's as originally intended, it would perhaps have a more deserved shot at the Greatest Album Of All Time title, IMO.

That's not to say MMT is my favorite Beatles album, or that SPLHCB isn't. Honestly, I don't have copies of Beatles albums myself. I did make a point to listen to all of SPLHCB a few months ago, and was surprised that it was all pretty much exactly as I remembered it as a child.

What kills it for me is something like "She's Leaving Home"-- every bit as maudlin and torpid as I remembered it being. There could never be such a song on any greatest album of all time, IMO.

My personal favorite/most listened to is Revolver, but SPLHCB is definitely their best in my eyes.

Thats the beauty of Pepper though, the type of songs on it span the whole range of pop music. It's also ridiculous to hold Pepper to such a high standard (one song wrecking it) and then praise MMT because it has 3 good songs.
