CAROL CHRISTIAN POELL - Page 67

Yup. This batch is more brownish just basing it on the photos.

I think the some elements of the dye do not penetrate the cordovan well, and the natural colour of veg tanned leather is brown
Grey is of course a mixture of all colours and black

The lining (which is calf, and perhaps chrome tanned rather than veg) is a mid-grey and presumably reflects the intended colour of 19. Should have taken a photo of it but didn't

Different batches presumably are left for variable periods of time in the dye barrels, or the underlying cordovan is tanned to variable darkness

Even the other guys pair from this same batch seem lighter than mine so I guess every pair is different

Lmao that is ridiculous

It's hard to imagine the evolution in design skill and inspiration that would have had to have occurred to take him from pink polo shirt to pig intestine sweater and dripped prosthetic gloved whatever

Almost like he did a deal with the devil in exchange

I think I'll stick with more recent stuff from CCP...

The fencing jacket IS uncomfortable though: armholes are ridiculously small and high

Also, the problem may be that some of the leathers were/are very thick/stiff. The newer CORS batches have been pretty soft though (at least the veg-tanned ones), and bison is soft, the thinner kangaroo (ROOLS) as well.

I've tried on a few CCP scarstitches, in CORS, ROOLS, and something else.  All comfortable  Don't be such a bunch of babies.  Though, the guy at l'Eclaireur was pretty surprised that I could wear a 8 lb jacket and feel completely at ease, so, ymmv (and it depends on what you are used to.)  The CORS seemed plenty soft to me, especially for horse.  I think that I'd actually possibly prefer the heavier, old, HOIL.

It's more on the cut rather than the weight of the leather. You're a pull up guy and I'm guessing your lats are quite wide. I don't think you'll feel comfortable in a fencing jacket. I think the Scarstitich is the most forgiving out of the 3.

HOIL is not available anymore and I don't think it is much heavier than the CORS. Rather, I think it is only stiffer due to a different method of treatment that was used before. It's just the recent CORS are veg tanned that's why I think it is softer.

I've found white tanned leather to be stiff and veg/slow tanned to be soft.

From my limited experience, I agree - HOIL not necessarily any thicker. And it's definitely not a weight of the leather thing, CCP usually has a pretty unforgiving cut, especially in the shoulders and arms. Scarstitch was fine until I started moving, but there's no way I could ride a train in one with my hands above
my head.

agreed. my sbuc tornados (white tanned) were super stiff when i got them, after some conditioning they softened up, the LUC which are veg tanned are soft right away. I think the white tanning dries the leather out more and causes it to be stiff.

I think most leather jackets won't allow you to raise your hands above your head unless the cut is really loose or, probably, the leather is lamb.
