I know you weren't too jazzed on the Firenze leather...should we go with the Z150 leather?

We also need StyleForum.net members to come up with a "working list" of what they'd like to see...here's an example that we worked with on a pattern-variation from the Vanson Model C

1) no belt, no belt loops, and no coin pocket on lower abdomen

2) angled left forearm coin pocket, angled on forearm like it is on the VAJ-3 bicep

3) 5-5.5 inch chest pocket with 7 inch handwarmer pockets; chest pocket angled like on Aero 1930s Half Belt

4) no dropped back, back cut straight across

5) leather toggles (like on VAJ-3) on all exterior pocket ring pulls

6) no interior pockets

7) black rayon liner

8) Z150 leather

9) nickel hardware

10) please construct jacket with throat latch

11) please construct jacket snap-on / snap-off black mouton fur collar

12) double-ended main zipper

13) standard Vanson label

14) Ultra slimfit Japanese Fit with model C "action" back

15) size Large for prototype

It's always best to go off of an existing Vanson Model...the Vanson Model C or Highwayman are the base of most "rocker" designs...

We know a lot of suggestions have already been put forth, but a short working list, like that above, is a tremendous help!

my thoughts on the 15 items:
1) no belt, no belt loops, and no coin pocket on lower abdomen -Yes
2) angled left forearm coin pocket, angled on forearm like it is on the VAJ-3 bicep - Yes
3) 5-5.5 inch chest pocket with 7 inch handwarmer pockets; chest pocket angled like on Aero 1930s Half Belt - I think thats what was agreed on
4) no dropped back, back cut straight across - Is one piece not an option?
5) leather toggles (like on VAJ-3) on all exterior pocket ring pulls - Agree with @KingJulien, can we do something cooler, not a fan of them either
6) no interior pockets - At least 1 interior for a cell phone, in fact is it that much harder to just do 2?
7) black rayon liner - on the sleeves and the body would be tartan
8) Z150 leather - still deciding
9) nickel hardware - is chrome an option?
10) please construct jacket with throat latch - @LA Guy are we getting a rider with a throat latch? i was under impression its a classic rider like Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
, just to be clear i am not against a throat latch, could be cool.
11) please construct jacket snap-on / snap-off black mouton fur collar - no fur collar
12) double-ended main zipper - Yes
13) standard Vanson label - Vanson x Thurston x Sf tounge.gif with a metallica logo
14) Ultra slimfit Japanese Fit with model C "action" back - not sure what this is
15) size Large for prototype - I think Fok has a better idea about this...

+1, i'd need to get an idea of what the total would be for reg mark up and then come up with upgrades...

@Thurston Bros Whats next level up from Z150?

@Thurston Bros Whats next level up from Z150?

This helps a lot!  The comp. weight is the next level up...but we think it will be too heavy...full grain, veg.-tanned horsehide would then be the next level up...

Here's a draft of a mandarin collared slimfit we're working on...

ok so z150 is cow then, thanks.

could thurston estimate the mark up for the full grain veg-tanned HH?
i.e.
z150 material cost =200
vs
FGVTHH cost =400 +50 custom work fee
so total mark up from z150 to FGVTHH would be 250
and therefore if the full cost was starting around 650 then for FGVTHH its gonna be around 900

Full grain, veg.-tanned would be a minimum of + $400.00...

Would it be easier for us to provide a drawing?  ... like this--

If we are to do this, someone will need to invest in the project with money...we're finishing the above for a group here in Seattle...

The collar seems wrong, right?

Would look better with a regular collar, IMO.

The further we get from the original Junya version, the less interested I become.

Read, guys. That vector drawing is for another group.  Since this is not sold through the Styleforummarket, we can't invest money into the specific project for things like vector drawings.  However, if you guys are game, we could pitch in to do that.  Alternatively, if one of you guys is good at that stuff, I can talk to you about the specs, and you could mock something up for the group.

Cheers,

Fok.

Definitely, drawing would be great.

I'm sure one of us can draw well enough to at least get the details visually represented, even if the proportions won't be exact.  No need to spend money on that.  I could probably take a stab at it.

that would be great as well...

was originally very interested, the junya rider is really bang-on. but now its become a $1000 jacket designed by sinnedk that will fit no body types.

lol, some parts of that post are inaccurate to say the least...
