@Synthese, as I understand the shoulders of the sample jacket you have measures 20" (sz L) across when measured across the back, as shown below

If you still have the jacket, could you do me a big favour and measure it the TOJ way which is from the front? (see example below)

I'm just wondering if the shoulder measurements differ depending on how it gets measured. Referring to the old TOJ sizing chart below, it looks like when shoulders are measured from the back, the measurements are 0.5" smaller than if measured from the front. Which makes me wonder if the new revised measurements of 17.5" for the size Medium actually equates to 18" if measured from the front. This theory could vary based on how the jackets are manufactured. Cheers

That doesn't sound right to me.  I know my front shoulder measurement is smaller than back.

Hey guys,

Sorry to space out on you, but I dropped the jacket off yesterday, so you'll have to wait for Thurston to get back with measurement details (and that front pic; really sorry about that one).

Are measurements for the non-slimfit version available? Everyone keeps saying it's the same as the Junya fit but I'm not familiar with that...

FWIW, shoulders are nearly universally measured from the back, because you want to make sure to account for you natural curvature. Also, look at @Synthese's fit pics. Unless you are a tailor, that's the best way of gauging your fit. Measurements are yet a small gauge of fit, and some important measurements, like the slope and inclination of the shoulder, are never even given. A lot of it is the pattern cutter's art.

As I mentioned, it could depend on how the jkt is manufactured. I would be keen on knowing if the front measurement differs from the back because I can only compare with my TOJ, which I measure from the front.

It may be possible that the shoulder gussets may add a bit to the measurements but I'll wait for thurston bros to comment on the front shoulder measurement.

I just sold my TOJ so can't prove this theory myself.

The shoulder measurement can usually be measured from the front (the front shoulder measurement usually equals the back), but not always.  To be safe, measure the shoulders at the back of the jacket (that's the way we do it and we don't want there to be confusion).

I am very interested in the group-buy. When/where will it be taking place?

People are already ordering...some people want to wait to see what the jacket looks like with smaller shoulders, but others are confident that the jacket is going to turn out great!  You can order by calling (206) 550-3545 or emailing info@thurston-bros.com

Since people can order now, can we consolidate all the information (sizing, price, colors, lining options, delivery time, etc...) on the first post?

People are placing orders to receive the first of the fit jackets.  People can keep the fit jacket sent to them (black Z150, nickel hardware, standard slimfit Junya fit), or designate custom body and sleeve length; different leather, different hardware, etc.  Price to receive a fit jacket is $699.99 USD and this serves as a deposit on the custom build, if you decide to go that route...

I paid last Tuesday. smile.gif When can we expect these fit jackets to go out? Around year end/early next year?
