I really like the Adidas shoes. I like the Goodyear logo. They look like they would be very good for driving.

I was just in Nordstrom's and they had a pair of Red ones in my size. I tried them on, but the leather was super stiff and the sole was way too rigid for my tastes. I was really looking forward to purchasing a pair. Jon.

The Eastbay link is to pairs with quilted nylon uppers. That won't solve the issues with the rigid sole, but you might want to think about the possibility of the nylon...

Even though the nylon will be softer, I honestly think that the sole is still too rigid. I did however try on a pair of Puma Mostro's in leather, and I have to admit they were very, very conformable, on top of which they looked quite good on my feet. Jon. Edit: Upon further thought, I think I will go and try them on yet again...(I know it sounds nuts, but at first I thought that the Speed Cats were not comfortable, but now I am buying every color I can find {ok, every color that I like}) and I think they fit and feel great. .

What year did the Speed Cats come out?
That depends what you mean? The SPARC shoes that are actually used for driving have been around for a while - they are the shoes which have the SPARC (sp?) logo on the tongue. I had a couple of pairs of those in early 2002. I think that the driving shoe as a fashion shoe craze started at the end of 2002/beginning of 2003. So I would say that widespread distribution of the shoes started early in 2003. I could be wrong though.
Well, obviously Tod's have been around for quite a while and they were the originator of the "˜driving shoe' craze. But, I was wondering if you knew when Puma came out with the first "˜Speed Cat'. Jon.
