Flusser makes a good book, but crummy clothing?

I have Alan Flusser's book "Dressing the Man" and it seems like a solid read on the subject. I was surprised to note that every time I come across one of his garments second hand while out thrifting, it is always a poly blend. How can a man write such a strong treatise on manly dressing in the traditional sense and then make plastic clothing? It seems to be two principles at odds with one-another. What am I missing here?

Flusser makes excellent bespoke clothing, and pays the bills licensing his name to Stein Mart, which embroiders it on occasionally-stylish junk.
