Sure way to wreck your tie.

I hear ties weeping for their fate, yearning to be untied from their contorted and constricted position. Poor pieces of silk deserve better treatment.

I even rescue poor ties that have been left knotted at Marshalls and the like. I've seen more than one ruined by this cruel practice.

Ha, Doc's the Rainbow Warrior in a sea of ties. Or something. Just watch out for the French special ops.

I did that to my two ties in high school when I had to wear a tie every day. It destroys the tie and the knot doesn't look as nice as a freshly tied knot.

not if you want your ties to last

On a handful of occasions when I have had to get up extra early for an important meeting I have actually gone to the trouble of knotting my tie the night before. In each of these situations it saved time while still allowing me to feel confident that my knot was to the consistent standard of professionalism that I work to make my signature.

Even losing her; rather her head.

Back in private school when we were kids, this was considered a clever time saver when it came to the school uniform, which was never more than an obligatory pain-in-the-ass anyway. It was a practice one outgrew with the uniform.

I did that for some time when I got my first tie to go to job interviews. But even back then, ignorant as I was, I actually felt bad about it.
I am not very good at making tie knots, but I actually like that moment, at home in the morning, knotting the tie as the last thing to do before leaving. Knotting the tie as such has never made me run out of time in the morning.
The only problem I occasionally have with my ties in the morning is when I cannot make up my mind about which tie to wear. Or when I, after knotting the tie, suddenly realise that I do not like the way it combines with the rest of the outfit!
