First off, I know this is a bit of a repeat thread and topic. I have searched SF. The closest I found to my question involved jeans and the others were a plain black tux. But I do apologist to those who feel this is a wasted read.

--------------------------

Getting married and having a midnight blue tux made for me. More of a slim euro fit, single button, slim legs. Bow tie, vest, french cuff sleeves.

With that said, I'm looking for shoes to be part of the outfit and not just an accessory. So what options do I have? I would prefer to not wear a traditional patent leather polished shoe, but is it the only option? No slippers either.

Thoughts? Is this attempt simply just pissing in the formality of a tux? Stick with a pair of AE Kendalls?

Thanks

No brogue.
A pair of well polished black wholecut, as good as a pair black patent plain captoe if you ask me.

To make something extra chose a pair of black suede wholecuts. Maybe hard to find though.

I'd probably just go for a pair of plain black cap-toe oxfords. Just give them a damn good shine, no-one will question you. Besides, you can use those shoes many times later...a pair of patent leather, not so much.

Thats what I was thinking too. I want something that is used more than just once a year or 2.

Nice, but I thought you wanted something you could wear after the wedding as well, didn't you?

Yes, I could see wearing a suede shoe far before pat leather for sure. Not as sturdy as the wingtips I own, so they wouldn't be as casual.

I could very well be making this decision to difficult in trying to find something different. . . . .

I have not seen any black suede wholecuts, but I was just speculating for some options.

I would say that for a wedding there is no need for some extra fancy shoes as the focus will not be on the shoes!

this is the closest I can come up with for the moment.

Why pay an enormous amount for a pair of shoes that very few will see and even fewer will remember?

Following up on the original post...
I, too, will have a MTM midnight blue tux for my wedding in two months.
Shoes... my bride-to-be has me half convinced on these Mezlan shoes. "Daniele" line, glass suede (black suede with glassy beads throughout), as something I can wear formally and in the future for a variety of functions.

Any thoughts?
(if it's worth anything, for better or worse, they're on sale by about 40% in the chicago mezlan store)

you can always wear whatever you get with your tux after your wedding. Worse case scenario, you have to throw a black tie dinner party to get usage out of it.
