I hope you didn't pay much. They give you one when you sign up for their email newsletter. It takes a day or two to receive it, but I'd just use a friend's email or make up a new one.

Isn't the value-added with these "Japanese lines" typically that they are:

1) made in Japan with superior materials and craftsmanship; and
2) often more tailored/fashion forward (though this aspect really depends on the aesthetic that the brand is going for)?

This Columbia stuff is made in China. I'm not sold.

1) For things like denim, and other things made by fetishistic obsessives, yes.  Otherwise, no.  I mean, the marketing copy might say that, but it's simply generally not true.

2) The design sensibilities are often just different enough to be exotic.  Interestingly, I found out yesterday that Herschel Supply backpacks hold some reverence in Japan among people who might like things like nonnative and and wander...

China has way more manufacturing capabilities than does Japan, just for the obvious reasons.  The handwelted boots from Visvim are by and large made in China, for example.

Speaking of quality shoes Made in China, check out Grant Stone

appearently these from shoemart are by them as well (and alden barrie sizing as well)

no first hand experience, review all look positive (including reddit, which is less likely to be advertisement in some way), stiching on the photo alone all looks nicer than AE for sure...

A lot of reddit readers also are less generally knowledgeable about clothing and footwear than people on more specialized places like Styleforum.  I think that Grant Stone is a good option if you are looking for a "dress casual" shoe at a very accessible price.

I'm still a big fan of MIJ stuff. I've never had a piece that didn't last me long past it's due date. I have some nonnative goretex sneakers that look like chuck high tops that I have been wearing for 6 yrs, about 4x/week. Still in amazing shape. I think the suede variation they made this year is made in Italy.

If you're in the US maybe you could try small claims? Hope it doesn't come to that.
Haha I don't know if insolvency law ranks small claims judgments above secured creditors. Maybe there's an exception for SF members.

There are a few sites, but it depends a lot on what do you want to buy

http://www.aesop.com/fr/?___store=fr_en&___from_store=aesop&ucname=Netherlands&uccode=nl

https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2/163-2851586-0292334?url=search-alias%3Dhpc&field-keywords=aesop

I'd still say Need Supply if they have what you want since the 15% affiliate code still works on Aesop afaik
