Looks like it works on all LVC items. Even rinse and rigid models of full priced denim.

Does Unionmade not do extra 40% off anymore? Just got an email that the sale's going to end this weekend.

Extra 40% off all sale/clearance at Club Monaco

Slim pickings, but still a few made in the USA blazers for less than a bill, along with some decent 3rd party outwear (Golden Bear, Aspesi, Henro, Barbour, Lardini, etc.)

Got an email last week where it sounded like Unionmade was going to wrap up their sale.  Can't understand why they wouldn't do the extra 40% off code again if they're just going to take it off the site and go that deep and likely deeper in most cases in another blowout sale in a couple of months.

Just a guess, but I would assume that having sales where your merchandise is marked down to 80% on an annual or semi-annual basis dilutes the value of the brand.

Unionmade is making smart plays by

1. Not allowing merchandise to go to 40% off + additional 40% anymore, because when every single season you have this happening you create a culture of expectation and entitlement where the customers no longer buyer sale merchandise because they think it will continue to go in to a steeper discount (which is a problem many stores face) so they 'wait' to buy it.

2. Not allowing their seasonal sale to be indefinite (until everything is gone) style. Too many stores have these seasonal sales that last for months and as mentioned above give  the customer no urgency to buy. With Unionmade putting a definitive end on the sale relatively quickly, they motivate customers to hurry up and buy at the current discount or else miss out on the item.

Based on personal experience, I think Unionmade would help themselves by putting even close to accurate measurements on their website.

Just speculating here but the cost of merchandise isn't going to be as cheap as you think, and if UM were to go any lower on prices they'd probably lose money. not exactly a smart business move.

Do they usually only sell 34" inseams? I wear a 36x36... kind of bummed.

Actually, there's a consignment store (Sui Generis) right down the street from Unionmade that takes in everything that doesn't move during the sale. They don't take their usual 60% cut from UM, they have some special arrangement. Prices at the consignment store are higher than the sale (drops to about 50% off but stops there).

This.  Its a very smart play.  And then sending things off to a mostly B&M consignment shop signals very clearly to the customer that the online customer (by far the most difficult customer, both in terms of what that customer expects in terms of customer service, and how price driven they are) that now is your chance, buy it now or forever hold your peace.  More and more NYC boutiques are doing the same.

Alan Bilzerian has a different, but also effective, method.  Every sales season, things go on sale, and the discount depends on the brand and the season.  It can be 80% off, or it can be 20% off.  No drops.  This goes on for 2-3 weeks.  Then everything goes back up to full price.  So, if you want to see the item again at discount, and you have no idea whether it will sell at full price in the meantime, nor do you know what the discount will be, you'll have to wait a full season.  It takes away ALL incentive to wait for progressive markdowns.  The only reason you would buy during sale season is because it was an item that you could not afford to buy, or it was not worth the retail to you, during regular retail, which captures the best customers, and allows you to discourage to disengage from the price wars that are hurting boutiques.  Of course, Alan Bilzerian's incredible eye allows them to do this.
