Even if you email them, they will simply tell you that sale items aren't eligible. Also, you don't have to email them when you place an order, you simply have to email them when you make the account and tell them you are from outside EU and they will set it up so that the VAT is automatically removed. I've been purchasing from them and the VAT is taken out right on checkout unless the item is already on sale.

i've never had trouble having oki-ni deducting VAT, even on sale orders. in fact they did so just today.

Any Americans ever order from the Porter UK site? There's an item that is out of stock on the US site but in stock on the UK site that I am considering ordering and having shipped to LA. I would imagine you get hit with VAT (until removed) and customs. Anybody do this?

I order from porter UK has no issue. At check out, the price you see = UK price - VAT + import duty + shipping. The system calculated this automatically. You pay the final amount.

You wouldn't need to pay any extra (customs) to get your item.
