Toronto area PSA: There's a vendor at the CNE in the Direct Energy Centre selling Doc Martens for cheap. Picked up a pair of black paratroopers with blacked out bottoms for $40. They also have derbies and a bunch of other models.

You do have to pay admission to get into the CNE ($18 I think... but you can find discount codes online), but if you're going there anyway, you can get a good deal on some winter beater boots for when the sidewalks are caked in road salt.

Also funnel cake*.

*Don't waste your money on those chocolate bar-stuffed croissants though. Way better on paper.

They used to be, now they are not. New old stock is hard to come by as well

Doc Martens have a made-in-China line and a made-in-England line. The second is called "Vintage." It's stiffer, harder to break in, and comes with brighter yellow stitching.

They're mainly made in Vietnam rather than China, but yes the MIE line use slightly stiffer leather. Personally I'm unconvinced they're much better than the Vietnamese ones, but I the new MIE are better than the old English ones with cardboard insoles that used to breakdown really quickly.
