FYI tmrw is the last day of the MAC sale. They close for a week to go to Europe to buy 2015 collections. There was still quite a bit left as of yesterday... Women's especially- Mina Perhonen, Sophie D'Hoore, etc. They literally gave my GF a Walter von Beirendonck dress (we do spend quite a bit of money there, but that was really nice). Seems like they really just wanna get rid of this stuff.

Yea, they do that every year. They make so much on their markups that they take a hit during the warehouse sale just to clear out inventory.

MAC actually has a charming, archaic system.  I've only ever seen it at Alan Bilzerian.  Everything is full priced except during sales, and then, things go back to full price.  I like this.  If more stores did this, then we probably wouldn't have so many people asking when things will go to 80% off, and we could probably sustain a Japanese style of markup, which everyone seems to want, but which precludes things going to a ridiculous amount off.

Incidentally, a large part of the reason that Japanese imports are so expensive are because of shipping and tariffs.  Look up the price of European and US made goods in Japan, and you'll see that the goods are much more expensive than they are in the States (Margiela was about 25-30% higher than American prices, last I checked.)

Just got a cardi from norseprojects.com shipped fed-ex to Colorado....paid $160 shipped and they marked $160 and knitwear on the customs form...any idea how much fees I'm gonna get hit with?  Got a couple buddies from Cali who have ordered from them in the past and have never been hit...

It varies. You'll get it in the mail, or you can call Fedex after it's cleared customs to see how much if any you owe.

thanks for the info! It was delivered on Friday, any idea what the normal turnaround time to get assessed fees is?  should I expect the 30% people talk about getting from the Norse Store?

I've received a bill two plus weeks after. I don't know about Norse Store personally as I don't shop there. If you really must know, you should just call Fedex with your tracking number. You can pay over the phone. Yes, if you do have fees to pay you should pay them.

I ordered right under $200 worth once, and wasn't hit. I'm in Tx.

I don't know about the website, but the Loake Fearnley is not the top line from Loake (1880) and as such the prices are not as high. The Fearnley for example can be found for 140 euros on Herring shoes http://www.herringshoes.co.uk/product-info.php?&brandid=7&catid=59&shoeid=7619&selectedsizeid=9&selectedfitid=2&stype=1http://www.herringshoes.co.uk/product-info.php?&brandid=7&catid=59&shoeid=7619&selectedsizeid=9&selectedfitid=2&stype (size 9 UK only).
