The problem is they don't force people to do price drops for a bump anymore. Because of this, things sit there far longer without any movement downward in price. Takes away the excitement for buyers and has hurt sellers themselves even if they don't realize it.

I've been contemplating taking away unpaid bumps altogether, and increasing the premium seller prices, so that sellers have an incentive to either 1) set prices low enough that they will sell very quickly, or 2) actually time price drops with bumps so that they make the best use of them (right now, $1 for a bump does not adequately disincentivize unrealistically high prices.)

Also, um, it's not a one item, one listing system. Read the rules, people.

Well that, plus frankly I think people have gotten pretty greedy. I have seen plenty listed for more than it would cost new if you do just a little bit of digging (I think there is a Nanamica jacket on there that islike that right now for example). Also the single item listing nature means stuff gets bumped off fast...

I agree.. you have to wait forever for a bump... I use to sell all the time, now its just cumbersome..

This was always there and it's a buyer's responsibility to do a little research before they buy something. I see it on Ebay too, all the time. You can always contact the buyer and let them know you have seen it for sale cheaper online. If you are polite about it, they may work out a deal with you.

Thanks. I'll keep an eye out for any possible changes, but it's nice to know you guys have already been considering taking some steps.

recent slump in b&s sales more likely a result of aggressive sales this past holiday season. bumps only occur once a week, if they remember to bump it at all.

How dare so many of you recent posters post about sales, and not TB coupons??

To break this madness - TB coupon please!

I honestly don't see why this would necessary. If I don't do a price drop, a potential buyer can still PM with a reasonable offer that's lower than my asking price. I just now that if I'm selling something for 150 and then I drop the price down to 100, I'm going to get a a bunch of PMs with people asking me to sell it for 50 shipped to China or something. Plus, if someone is truly in a hurry to sell something, they can bump the price down. but if someone is not a hurry, no need to lower it.

I personally see no wrong of this. People are trying to earn some money and since the store offers him to stack his student discount on top of it and he doesn't violate return policy. If you are not happy about it, you can go ahead and tell manager or just refuse to sell him. Yes you can do that. You are talking about brick and mortar stores, but people do it at online store all the time.
There are not many stores offers student discount, only a few. Almost all high-end department stores or shops don't have student discount thing. Just guessing, you work at J.Crew?

J.Crew, he only buys Alden's, Nanamica, Belstaff, Barbour, etc. I don't know his name, if I bothered to look I could find his screen name but I know he posts on here as I have seen what he returns in the B&S section then one day it's gone and by the weekend I see it in the return bin back to the distribution center.

You were around during the old system and should remember the % drop required for a bump. Why do you think LA Guy would suddenly require 1/3 asking price drops? You won't be dropping anything from $150 to $100 unless you choose to. If we return to having to do a drop for bumps, then I am sure there will be reasonable requirements for so.
