Guy on the phone said the item "is online" so I didn't have to worry. Does that mean they have inventory at a warehouse for the website in addition to what's in their stores?

Doesn't sound like that to me, sounded like he meant that you can order it online without having to track it down in store. I'd call another store or call them back and say you rather order through them.

Yeah pretty odd he'd turn down commission, unless it was for like $20 worth of merch

Then his response doesn't even make sense since I told him I had placed an order and gave him my order number after he asked for it... It's currently out of stock, so it's not line anymore either.

*edit* just to update without spamming this thread further -- SA at store said there is 1 on web and 1 at beverly hills store, so apparently the website does have its own inventory for some things and it sounds like I should be getting the item for sure.Ervell purple pocket sweater in medium in case anyone near beverly hills was interested.

I haven't found a great alternative yet, but I do like the socks from Lorenzo Uomo, I think that's the name. Not sure if you can get them nationwide, but in NY they sell them at Century 21 for about $6.

Yes, I've done this and it has worked in the past. Call customer service with the item number. Ask them to see what stores have it in the size you are looking for. Call the store and have the SA track it down for you. You'll get rung up just like you were in person and they will get it packed and shipped to you.

The Barneys website is just terrible at times. When you order something, it initially says it is sold out if that was the last item in their inventory but about 30min to an hour later, there is a big chance it'll pop up on the website again even if they do not have it in stock anymore and any order after that will likely be cancelled. I think they do try to locate the item from another store before cancelling the order but usually when it is the first day of the sale season, it is almost a 50-50 chance that your order will go through or be cancelled.


I was hoping Plokhov would go on sale, it was part of the initial markdown the last few seasons, not sure why that isn't the case this time around.
