Well, that's what he gets for living so close to Canada.

There's currently 30% off LVR's summer stuff, but will it go on further sale soon?

Belmont Army in Chicago has 40% of their CPs. They have the 3 hole slip-on sneaker in white and the dress shoe version in black and brown. No website but IIRC they will do phone orders.

just got my porter's shipment cancelled because those bastards don't ship to freight forwarding addresses. I live in Vancouver and just wanted to avoid paying unreasonable taxes/duties. Has anyone in the lower mainland tried getting their Porter's order shipped to Hagen of Blaine

It clearly states they do not do this in ordering section.  The clothing is on sale so "avoiding ... "unreasonable taxes" is a moot point.  If you don't like your local taxes fees move to Sri Lanka.

You people cannot out smart a major retailer.  Amusing.

It works on other major retailers and I am sure many forum members can attest to that.

Just because the clothing is on sale doesn't make "avoiding unreasonable taxes" a moot point. If you have to pay these taxes you might as well buy from a local retailer at full price and avoid the hassle of shipping.

On a side note, step your "quotation marks" game up son.

enjoy your free healthcare and pay your damn taxes

Your best bet is finding someone here who is willing to proxy for you; Porter is good at not shipping to places that are against their policies.

I am sure it does work with other retailers.  My point is Mr. Porter does state this in their shipping guidelines so you shouldn't be upset at them.  They have rules for a reason and they will not break them so you can avoid paying your tax rate.

If the sale + taxes is less then what you would find locally (which I suspect to be the case) I really don't understand why you are bitching.  You are saving money!!!  If you want to be greedy that's cool, but don't blame the retailer.

To be fair, often times the difference between shipping to Canada and domestic shipments in the US is much more than just the tax rate. For instance, an order I placed today with gilt was 200 shipped to a receiving company in WA, or 295 shipped to Canada. Before you demonize for trying to evade taxes (which is somewhat ironic if you're American), I declare the goods when I cross the border.

I totally agree.  Many American's do try to find ways to get out of paying tax, which is also wrong and I would feel the same way toward them.  There is a reason countries have import duties and to try to circumvent paying your fair share is fucking shady.  People in the States that order abroad do, in some cases, also have to pay fees so it goes both ways.

But I guess it doesn't matter.  People do what they do regardless.
