In my experience, nothing beats Maui Jim in this field.
Thanks for sharing. Have you ever had any experience with Japanese glass polar lenses made by (for?) Masunaga?
Model GMS 114sg feature mineral polarised lenses, check it out:

Maui Jim makes nice lenses, but I prefer the ones in my Matsuda sunglasses.

Hey everyone! Am new to the forum and i'd like to start off my membership by asking a simple, straightforward question: in the wake of the above quote, i'd like to hear your thoughts as to who makes the best sunglass crystal lenses (preferably polarized) right now. I've always been a fan of glass lenses: fortunately i don't have any problems with my eyesight so i'd take glass over plastic every day and in every way for its superior optical clarity as well as scratch resistance.
I am in the market for a high-quality aviator shades of the squared variety and here are my provisions:
- all-glass lenses, polarized / either dark brown or dark green (g-15) - MOST important provision!
- all titanium construction
- navigator shape (think Dita Flight Seven and the likes)
- (hand)made in Japan
- exclusive and hard to get
- NOT owned by Luxottica
did i forget anything?
I don't think so, that'd be all for now.
I'd immensely appreciate any considerations/suggestions other members would care to share!
I'll stay tuned.
Thanks everyone ;-)

Considering no mention of your budget, I'll throw up the new T Henri series. The only thing missing from your criteria is the polarised glass lenses but they do have very nice Japanese CR39 with anti-reflective coating and a soft mirror flash. I just picked up some Berlinettes and they have some serious wow factor. Overall build quality and balance is simply superb!

Those Matsuda’s do look amazing. I stick with Maui Jim’s as I have them make prescription lenses and don’t think they do ones for custom frames.

Hi there. I'm planning to get some Etnia Barcelona sunglasses (Flamingo: https://www.etniabarcelona.com/gb/en/sun/flamin-s-bkog). Probably just order the frames online, and would like to put prescription lenses in them.

Anyone have experience in getting lenses separately from the frames? Either with high-street optician (big chain or independent) or online? I can see plenty of online companies offering sunglasses reglazing, but not sure about the quality of the lenses, in particular the tint. They seem to offer standard prescription lenses with their own applied tint?

Would such Zeiss/Hoya tinted lenses be good?
What would be the difference between a tinted lens from an online supplier vs a high-end sunglasses lens which would ship with the sunglasses?

Are there any companies providing high-end lenses for "third party" frames with UK/EU shipping?

Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks.

P.S. Some examples of the online reglazing sites: https://www.spex4less.com/reglaze-customer-frames and https://www.onlineopticiansuk.com/reglaze-glasses-c15
