Summer bedding solutions

Thread Starter
I like to sleep in the cold. It can be an expensive problem in the summer with electricity bills.

So far Ive just shelved the high thread count sheets and started using only 150-200 count for the time being, and have been thinking of buying a cotton bed blanket to use in place of a comforter.

I was wondering if there were any other general tips to share. For example, aside from avoiding down stuffing, is there any specific kind of pillow stuffing that is really cool? What about a comforter stuffing?

It would be my preference to get a cooler comforter instead of a bed blanket because I like the fluffy feel and weight.

We use linen sheets all year round. Hey are heavy enough to be warm in winter, but keep the cool crispness in summer. I can't think of any other reasonable solution.

Can I suggest a fan as a cheap alternative to aircon!

Ikea has a very lightweight raw cotton (linen-like, neutural colored) bed spread for about $10. I picked one up, and it's nice and cool for the summer.

That what we do also, switching only to flannel in the dead of winter. I also like buckwheat-hull pillows, which seem to stay a bit cooler.

We bought a Vornado circulator fan and find it's a good way to feel cooler without breaking the bank on AC. The circulator is much more effective than a regular fan and also much quieter.

After googling it, this looks interesting... Is it sensitive to where it is placed for best airflow, or would it be effective placed anywhere in the room?

Any preferred brand or retailer of linen?
