Merc london 3/4 coat

This question is directed squarely at people living in London, or those who have visited the Merc store on Carnaby Street. I'm interested in their 3/4 overcoat, but the picture on their website leaves much to be desired. They e-mailed and said they'd 'see what they could do' about sending me some swatches, but failing that... I'm interested specifically in the 'tobacco' color. For those in the know, which of these would be the closest match? (Click for larger) Or is the answer "none of the above"? If anybody could take a quick peek in the store, I'll be forever in your debt.

I'd say picture number 3, although that could simply be the result of bad lighting.

Thanks, Alias... Let's assume that the coat in the third picture is in good light, and is actually that color. What you're saying that the Merc coat, in the flesh, has the same tone as you can see in the third picture? Is it a shade, do you think, that will readily combine with both brown and black? I'm looking for a coat in that ever-elusive shade of camel that looks good with everything, from jeans to a black suit. And yes, I am probably being excessively nitpicky, but I gotta be me...

Well I've never seen a Merc coat, in the flesh or otherwise. You asked which picture showed a color closest to "tobacco," and I answered that. It would definitely combine well with brown or black. But then again, so would a regular camel tan (color in pictures 1 and 2.) Tobacco brown would provide less of a contrast with brown and black than would regular camel tan, so if you're following the Flusser school of color coordination and are looking for something with a more muted contrast, tobacco's for you. Of course, I could wait until someone from London answers your post. Hurr. But tobacco's tobacco, right?

Merc merchandise is mostly crap. Seriously. If you've seen the stuff and are okay with it, more power to you.
