For suggestions: can you narrow it down a bit? What do you mean by "big onsen place"? I am not so familiar with Kyoto but know Osaka and Kobe well and can probably recommend some things here.

by big onsen place, I dont remember what its called but its up north here around Tokyo. They have several pools including private ones that can be rented out. Im up in the air about this. Maybe somewhere nice in Kyoto... or is that too cliche?

It's really not that bad. Akihabara and Ueno are super close. Bar/Cafe Tepui around the corner is open until 3am. The Space Create at Welship (8 minute walk) is open 24h, has pool, darts, PS2, DVD players, Arcade games, Internet, etc.

It's not Roppongi or anything, but it's better than the neighborhood I currently live in.

I am flying out tomorrow... Arrive Friday night. Spending Saturday with family at memorial service, Sunday is the family burial grounds at Mt. Fuji in the AM and back into Tokyo to check into the hotel by 5pm. 3rd is a friend's show at night and drinking binge. 4th is 1am SF fantasy football draft. 5th is drinks in the evening with Dad and his HS friends. I probably won't stay long, seeing as I'm probably still going to be reeling from the 3rd, and other than American football (which I'm certain will come up) we don't have much in common to talk about. They are all 57 years old

Other than that, I will be out and about rockin what limited steez will fit into my medium sized duffel bag and small backpack.

PM me if anyone is interested in a Tokyo meetup. I leave the afternoon of August 10th. I plan on checking SF frequently.

Cemetary is H.U.G.E.

It lies in between the Fuji Raceway and Fuji itself. I could hear people lapping from the family plot. Fuji-san was hiding behind heavy cloud cover today.

the go-karts at Fuji Speedway are wicked fast. I've spun them out in hard braking before, killer.
